Hi, I'm a New Orleanian new to the board and although I don't own a Ferrari, I have a black '04 Dodge Viper which I'm currently daily driving (courtesy of Katrina swallowing my DD). I've met a few local Ferrari owners over the years, but I'm not sure if they post here or not.

Anyway, I was wondering if any of you have any suggestions as to local detailers. My car looks like hell right now and I have no idea who to use. I'm afraid to let just any wackjob with a buffer touch it. I can't really find any other car board with a New Orleans section and I figure you all are pretty fanatical.

    Thanks,
    Kenny

Black, eh? Tough color to get right.

I would trust Mike Miller to do it. He is an artist. You would have to drive to Hammond, but he is worth it. His number is 985-510-1733.

    Welcome to the board.

Umm- do it yourself? I've never found anyone who takes the time to do it right.

An '04 sure shouldn't need a buffer job.

So do you love-hate relationship with your black car?

You guys are killing me. :) There used to be a mobile guy that was based on the northshore years back, I remember he had a recorded information line for info (press 1 for...), and you could leave him a message, but I guess he must be out of business, I can't remember his name and didn't see anything in the phone book that looked familiar.

Actually, I hate black. With a passion. I had a black jeep that I lost in Katrina and I had sworn that would be the last black vehicle ever. Then Huffines in Dallas cut me a deal I couldn't resist on the last 2004 they had on the lot on Aug. 30. I brought it back to the city ten days later and every time I wash it, it ends up filthy---now that we've had some rain, it might stay somewhat clean.

I'm getting married on Dec. 10 and I have my hardtop coming in early next week, so I wanted to get the hardtop on the car and have it cleaned well before everyone comes in. I'm not really inclined to do it myself.

Thanks for the suggestions. I may call a good friend of mine that owns a body shop and see who he suggests (it's actually the body shop right next to Jim Lindsey's shop).

Thanks guys, I have Darren coming out next Wed. to detail my car at my parents' house in Kenner. I was living in Lakeview (half a block away from Franco, but never had the opportunity to meet him). Just bought a house in Metairie that I am renovating---thankfully my new neighbors have a sense of humor about the 3" no cat exhaust I have on the Viper. :)

He is still around but said he can barely keep up with his regular business and is slowly shutting down from what I gathered
