Hello all Just bought my first F car a couple of months ago and thought I would introduce myself (my profile has been filled out!) Been working up to purchase a 308 or 328 and went for the TR in the end - here she is in the attachments. She is a decent car - PPI from an expert in Canada well known to this forum attests to that. 1991 Model, with 14.5k Miles on the clock. Needs a bit of work before she can be sent out to me here to drive in our 'winter' months. Its in good hands (to put it lightly) with its current caretaker who I was lucky to be introduced to. Its a long wait from purchase to a first drive and besides having to be patient, its been an interesting journey already with all these discussions on values and ownership experiences on the forum! Looking forward to being a part of this large family and learning as much as possible from you all on here. Forgot to mention I am also extremely lucky to have a TR owner who lives here - who actually does his own engine out service on his car! Talk about wealth of knowledge and experience right there. Glad to be aboard the F-train
Thanks Christophe - was a big step for me considering what I was looking at earlier, but a good one I believe Itching like mad to get my hands on the first drive - cant believe I have to wait a few more months before I even get to see it for the first time. That Blue on your TR with the cream interior is deadly. How long have you had that for now ? Looks mint -
Looks fantastic, so this is a Canadian car? Are you exporting it to Dubai and are there any issues with that? Why aren't you getting it right away, is the Dubai summer not a good time to drive the car? ;-)
I was about to say, "Wow, lots of oak trees in Dubai" but I figured it out. Congrats and please tell us the import process / duties etc on taking a car from Canada to Dubai. I always wondered if it would be feasible to bring a car from Dubai to the USA as it seems exotics are cheaper over there.
Congrats and welcome to the club. Drop me a PM if you want to catch up sometime. I too am based in Dubai. Bought my TR here last year.
Thanks Gaurav, it is indeed a great color combination! I've had it for 4 years now and I still sit in it at night sometimes, just because. That's what TRs do to you. You'll have a blast with yours!
Thanks John Q. It is a Canadian car indeed. Yes I am bringing the car home and there are no issues with importing it here Apart from Dubai summer being 50+ degrees C, it just needs a some work done by expert hands first and is in the line till he gets to it. Once it is done properly, it will be here in time for good weather and finally a first drive !
Hi Christian, No issues bringing the car to Dubai, its easier than sending one over. I agree with you on cars being cheaper here where new exotics are concerned, but not with older classics. This is not the place to purchase them for a bargain deal and even then I would have a super solid PPI for buying any car locally before I were you in taking it back to the US where importing there is very strict.
Hi Craig, For sure Dropping you a PM now and look forward to speaking with you and meeting you out here.
Ha ha ha - I imagine that I will do the same as well out here when it arrives ! Thanks - am looking forward to it. Am open to any conversations, tips, upgrades or things I should/can buy to complete the long term ownership experience, whether it be luggage, books, brochures, watches etc etc
Thanks Melvok Looking forward to putting many many miles on the TR when it comes home Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
