I have been lurking for about a month and think it is about time I introduce myself. I am a long time Italian car nut and secret Ferrari luster. I sold my '88 Alfa Romeo Spider Veloce when I moved to downtown Chicago (a few blocks from Wrigley field) several years ago and have tried to just ignore the desire. Plus Chicago is just about the worst place to have a car you care about. In the two years I've had my BMW 545 it has been damaged about a dozen times through the careless acts of others. Plus the roads here are just atrocious.

Now for the Texas tie in. I have just signed on to a technology startup that is relocating to Austin. I made one trip down already to scout commercial real estate and am pretty confident the office will be on the west side. I'll probably make a house hunting trip in the next few weeks. I'm single and thinking downtown is the place to be or maybe SOCO or Tarrytown based on my web crawling. I will be traveling a lot with the new job and want something very low maintenance and secure. So maybe a condo or apartment. Start with a short term lease till I get a flavor of the area then buy something. If anyone knows of anything please feel free to PM or email me.

After I get the housing thing figured out I want to start my quest to get my first Ferrari. 308, 328, 355, 360, 550 - I'm open to about anything and figure I need to start by spending time getting to know them all. Doing research on the web is fine but I've heard that buying a Ferrari is more like finding a mate and you need to experience them all. So If you all don't mind I'd like to pop in at a few gatherings or a tech session at Moorespeed. Unfortunately I'll just miss ICF.

    Regards

    Drew

Wey-all! Howdy pardner! Y'all gottoagit some guns, and a truck, and stuff 'afore ya worry about onea them fancy eye-taleen car-uz.

Austin is a generally youthful town. I would suggest something down by the waterfront? Condo, or apartment. When you start looking for your Ferrari, don't overlook the Mondial cabrio. Affordably topless F-motoring, with 2 small back seats or a large luggage space.
