Hi, I'm asking this question for a friend of mine who came into some inheritance (approx 0.5M which is not that much but substantial enough to invest).

Right now cash in the bank is around 5% interest with no risk...am I right?

How hard would it be to have a return of 10-15% with minimized risk...now keep in mind this lady is **NOT** interested in being an active investor but maybe monitoring the account every month or so/etc.

    Any suggestions ?

    THANKS!

P.S. If you got to B&I, be sure to search first.

    Hi,

Thanks for the info -- I don't have access to B&I; I guess this might be a good time to look into that silver subscription package in the least right? :)

For $500K, you'll have a tough time beating an index fund like the Vanguard S&P 500. You'll earn a market rate of return without having to pay the fees for active management. Those fees will git ya everytime.
