That was quite a story huh? In case people do not know what that picture represents it is a photo taken by a tourist of an NYPD cop who saw a homeless man with no shoes. So he went inside the Skechers store and bought the guy a pair of socks and boots. The homeless guy said he had never had a new pair of shoes before
Yep. Photo wasn't staged, lighting wasn't perfect, but I'm reminded of 500-year-old Art. Very touching.
Cop was only 25 years old. You would never find a cop over 35 doing that. The ones I know and some also related to are cynical, heartless people when it comes to certain less fortunate groups.
Heard it on the radio this morning that the cop was badly duped, the homeless guy has since been outed by his homeless peers. He apparently poses on the streets with no shoes, waiting for people to feel bad anticipating for them to buy or give him shoes which he then sells to support himself. Yes only in New York, sucks to be owned. Very true that a veteran cop would never do that, only time will make them wise up to the streets, a lesson this newbie will never forget.
Last thing I gave a homeless guy was a pair of new socks. Two days later . . . I'm driving by "his" bench and see the blanket bouncing up and down while his nasty, bare feet dangle & clench.
