Love it on the phone, not so much on iPad. Didn't have any issues getting it on my phone, whole 'nother story on my iPad though.

I really like it, especially the control center. Battery life seems better and the phone seems to run much smoother.

I got it on my iPad. However, it seems like Safari is running slower. Tried rebooting, which helped a little, but it's still seems slower than it was on IOS 6.

I have the opposite impression. Seems to run faster.
The more I use it the more I like it. And I don't do change well.

I asked my daughter why she hadn't downloaded it on her phone yet - she said she was "over" swiping things 5 years ago with WebOS and her Palm Pre. :D

She said all people were talking about at work was "look, you can swipe this away!...".

    +1 ;)

Gotta say, you guys (and those discussing the same in silver) have way bigger balls than me!.... One dude was downloading it over an airport lounge wi-fi!

I want mine at least backed up and plugged in. And I'm gonna wait for at least 7.1.

    :D

Seems the "complaints" are mainly cosmetic, and I know if you dig deep enough that stuff(fonts, text size, color, background, etc) can all be changed.

    Cheers,
    Ian

The new iOS is the first designed by their hardware guy (Ivy?) interesting to see how The Apple "look" translates across media.

The Palm Pre was and is a damn good phone. It's such a shame it wasn't a big hit, but if I remember right it was sort of the last hurrah from Palm and the competition was just way too fierce.

I think Palm failed because it was too small which made it harder to work with. It's competition was bigger not better. Function wise it was great ...

Think about how much better iPhone would be at five inches especially those of us with older eyes. Love the Note for that reason

The new iOS has a slider to make fonts bigger.

My thoughts can be summed up by using the compass as an example.

Anyone in the world could make the compass on the right. Only Apple would make the compass on the left.

The skeuomorphic design is wonderful. Only Apple would come up with a steampunk looking compass. The wood background is bookend matched, the brass bezel a very nice throwback to maritime navigation. It also has the iPhone trademark reflective glare, now completely missing in iOS7. And old version has the most appropriate serif font for the directions and degrees.

Speaking of fonts, the new minimalism is a serious mis-step for Apple. Thin and skinny, bland sans-serif doesn't say anything. Or if it does, it says "Android". The Apple font, in use since 1984, is completely gone. Not even the chunky look of the calender date, which also had a similar Apple font, looks Apple-ish anymore. Or the quirky notes font. It's all gone.

And that special look and feel is gone from absolutely everything. Gone are the yellow paper with ruled lines for notes. Instead, everything is far too delicate looking with way too much white space (or blackin, in the case of the compass) and too many simple designs in primary colors. Again, it's a design language that anyone could do. The previous design was something special, and something that only Apple could do.

Having said that, the parallax viewing is really cool. But that too feels like a gimmick, kinda of like what Nintendo came up for the 3DS. Ultimately, all of iOS 7 looks more "Made in Japan" than it is "Designed in Cupertino"

    I'm not a fan.

It downloaded and is working fine for me. I don't like the swiping up to close apps, the rest of it is more or less intuitive.

Unless something has changed, you need to pay an additional monthly fee to be able to use your phone as a hotspot.

Because the iPad doesn't have a magnetometer. No magnetometer means it can't find direction.

I am tired of the skeumorphic look...love the minimalism and flatness of this. It's less resource intensive, too. I work in Ableton Live which has used a "flat" design since the beginning, so this is very familiar. I guess I just don't like fake things that someone tried to make look "real".

I got it's few days ago. Updated my iPad without using iTunes which took about 2 hours or so. Then updated my iPhone 4 using iTunes which took about 30mins only.

However, I feel the new iOS makes the iPhone a tad slower. Other than that I'm happy with it, with apps like the torch can be deleted since the. New iOS does comes with it. I think the camera improved too.

I'm still thinking of getting a 5c end of the year though.

Edit: I'm confused about the compass thing. How come I don't have it?

'Cuz you have an iPhone 4, which has no magnetic needle with which to make the compass work, a magnetometer.

The transition animations run too long. They slow me down. It is infuriating to have to pause actual work for unnecessarily long eye candy.
