Ipad Safari function

There are a few web sites that I access that detect the ipad as a mobile device and switch from the regular site to a mobile site automatically. I don't really see a reason for this, unless the site requires Flash. I contacted apple, but they say there is no way to override this in the Safari settings. I wondered if maybe there are apps that would stop this from occurring, but didn't find anything.

Does anyone know of a solution to this problem?(other than accessing on my laptop)

Actually I found that other browsers on the iPad allow setting changes that allow access to these sites. What I used is Terra, actually better in some respects to Safari. Finally, I can do my online payroll on the iPad!
