...at a bar near you D)... Report: Apple to hold media event on October 4th, Tim Cook to unveil iPhone 5
The invitation is very clever. The icons are all correct. (date, time, map location) Image Unavailable, Please Login
So? Just sell your current 4 on Ebay, should go for at least $350 or more. Then just go and get a 5 for $399. Then when your contract is up, get another 5 and sell yours or it on Ebay for $450-up. I sold my two year old 3GS on Ebay a year ago for $375. People pay crazy money for used iPhones.
http://www.macrumors.com/ - liveblogging links here. Other sites are leaking that it is a 4GS, and not a 5G/teardrop phone announcement. 1G/8MPixel..etc..etc.. who knows, we'll wait and see.
A5 dual-core processor, 8MP camera with IR filter and image stabilization, iOS5, 14.4 mb/s download speed and 7x better graphics than iPhone 4. Should be good, but I'm disappointed in the same size dimensions and no 4G yet, even though it's scarcely available. Oh well, I'll just pre-order this new white 4S thing on Friday and pick it up next week...
I hate to be "that guy", but I couldn't care less about 4G. I'm sorry, but I have no reason for it on my phone. I can download full images in seconds and I can't think of a single website that won't load almost instantaneously. I love fast internet on my computer, but what could you possibly be doing on your phone that 3G isn't fast enough?
Will apple sell me one at full price without making me extend my phone contract? So far I can't find out much.
Ike, probably, for around 599 and up, but they haven't released their non-contract phones yet. If you are just one year out of contract, it would be renewed for two years, not in addition to. Trying to avoid being stuck with AT&T/Verizon for another two years?
I always bought unlocked phones but extended my contract when I got the 3Gs iPhone. I don't want to extend it again. I'm not even sure what phone I want. I have become used to having everything tied together with the iPhone but the phone quality is not as good as my Nokia E71. I am thinking about getting a Nokia N8. It is only $389 unlocked and I think it will do what I want. I bought a Motorola Atrix but I could not have my regular, school, and corporate e-mail on it easily. At least no one could get it working for me, so I returned it. I like the way everything works on my iPhone but ever since I switched to the iPhone I have had horrible phone service, and sound. I think it is the iPhone and not AT&T. The nokia has none of the issues it has, in the same rooms of the same buildings. I also like that the unlocked, non-at&t software neutered, Nokia phones are able to plug directly into my computer and let me use my data plan as a modem for when there is no wifi. I used it on the e71 all the time. A friend bought a AT&T branded e71 and it would not do it until its software was modified.
I've had my iPhone 3 for three years now. I still dig it. Granted I don't do much actual talking on the phone with it but for the most part the reception is pretty good. I'm gonna order a 4S pretty soon. I like the iPod features. The Internet works great.
Most likely will be $399 for a 16G out of contract as they said $199 for a new contract for the 16G. They said with a new contract you can get a 4 for $99 or a 3GS for free starting tomorrow I think. Pretty good deals.
I'll be picking up a white 4S on Verizon as soon as I can. I'm crossing over from "the dark (droid) side."
