Over the past few days battery life is dropping like a rock. Both our iPhones and both iPads. All running 6.1.3. Overnight the phones drop to 50%. No big changes and no new apps. Anyone else?

Reboot them just in case. May be some app updated and new version comes with bug. "Kill" all apps at evening and see if it solves the problem. Another thing it can be your cell provider - if they doing some work on tower and your signal strength drops - both devices will engage power amp that has less then 10% efficiency and drains battery like crazy.

Thanks. That's what I did. Rebooted everything a couple times yesterday. With apps updating all the time I couldn't remember which ones recently updated. Hope they're back to normal.

any app the turns on the gps, such as google maps, will drain the battery MUCH faster.
make sure these apps are shut off after using.

Same kind of thing happened to my Samsung S2. It charged veery slowly, drained the battery and the backside got so hot that I was starting to fear a fire at some point. Decided to take backup, hard reset it and put it away. Went to the shop next day, tried the S4, but it felt too big for me so I went home and gave the S2 another try. After the reset the battery life is great again and so is charging. I think my phone had some sort of software conflict that caused it.

See if there is different types of resets for your iPhone. On Androids you have the soft reset that you can do from the phone settings while it's still on, but it won't remove everything. And you have the hard reset option that sets everything back to as the day I recieved it and that had to be done using the physical buttons with the phone switched off.

    Good luck!

I've just recently noticed the same on my IPhone. Not the ipad, just the phone.

FWIW, this somewhat coincided with an inability to turn the sucker off!.... It would shut down and then immediately reboot. Fix was to turn it off only when connected to the charger....

Anyway, that prompted some further poking. Firstly, somehow, the gubmint managed to put their alerts deep under notifications.... (Settings-> notifications -> scroll down) and you'll probably find em.... Turning these off helped.

Then settings -> privacy -> location services. You'll probably be amazed at the # of apps that use these services. ... Turn the majority of em off.

    Cheers,
    Ian
