I found a couple of threads related to this issue from a couple of years ago, but nothing definitive. I reached out to the service dep't of an authorized Ferrari dealer via email to see if they could install the functionality and this is what they said:

"There is an ipod kit available from Ferrari, however it may not be suitable for your radio system. We would have to remove radio and see if vehicle can be wired with the factory unit."

I've followed up with them to understand if this is an issue of OEM vs. After-market radios, and they said it isn't. Any guidance from MY05 F430 owners that have installed an iPod connection would be appreciated.

I've seen many threads refer to a wire coming out of the glovebox that is used to connect an iPod, but I'm not sure if that is in fact the solution.

    Thank you.

While I don't have an '05 (it's an '07), I do have the iPOD connection. Unless they changed the head unit between 2005 and 2007, it is simply an iPOD connector that plugs into the head unit in place of the multi-disc CD changer. So, if your car has the multi-disc CD changer, it should be a simple matter of sliding the head unit out, unplugging the CD changer, and plugging in one of the iPOD "kits" and routing that wire through the glove box or somewhere where you can attach the iPOD to it.

Apparently the head units are in fact different, which is why this issue is more of a black box than one would expect. Appreciate your response nonetheless.

I installed the Aux connector in my 2005. Make sure you have Becker model 6104 (that is what mine came with from factory). If you have that model you need part number: BNA - 1319 - 116 which is a simple connector purchased directly from Becker. I believe it was $20 or so. It plugs into the back of the unit and replaces the CDC input (i had to disconnect my CD changer). The cable comes with the two keys you need to slide the radio out. Install was very easy using instructions and it sounds great.
