Boeing ruggedness for the win. Surprised the Iranians are flying Boeing actually.

I think it goes beyond impressive. I think it's incredible. How did he hold the nose up so long? Did he have people run to the back?

Then he locks up the breaks when the nose is down and stops in 400'.

I don't know who he is but I would fly with him. Just not on Iran Air or anything russian.

I'm surprised too. There are a bunch of 47's grounded at Mehrabad airport - I was told they couldn't get parts for them.

I borrowed this youtube clip from a thread on RL; someone there mentioned that Iran Air gets their Boeings serviced elsewhere in the ME, since Boeing can't sell them parts directly. apparently they have a bunch of legacy planes that must all be 35-40 years old.

The 727 has a very powerful horizontal stabilizer with full up elevator and nose up stab trim.Good airplane.

Flawless...That guy can fly...recently there was a thread here on FChat about landing a 27...notice he held it off just like a piper cub...don't have to fly it down and push forward...and the landing of the nose wheel...he saved just enough elevator to grease it on at min speed...and, $20 says he's never landed without a nose gear before....sweet!

It was never implied that you COULDN'T land the 727 as the pilot did in the video. It is difficult for most pilots to do so in normal operations. I saw Lew Wallick make many landings exactly like this guy did.You have to know the airplane and like the guy in the video, you have to be good. I imagine that he set up a fairly high AOA approach and stabilized there and dragged it in. The airplane was originally designed for short fields and this kind of landing.
