Friend working for a prominent IRL team tells me that the 'boss' called all employees together and announced a 25% pay CUT across the board or some redundancies.

Wonder if his other interests are taking similar cuts?

As much as it sucks, 25% less is better than no job at all. Not an easy time to be in racing I'm sure, not really an easy time to be in any profession for that matter.

    B. it was actually 20% in the shop. Maybe we should have won the 24?

would this boss be from a city that recently won the Superbowl, and have the initials C.G.?

was this prompted by a loss of sponsorship, MFR support, etc?

I think all teams are looking to cut overhead dramatically, this town has a surplus of racing techs/support people at the moment as do the Carolinas. The team of which I speak certainly have a 'target' to cut expenses.

Rumor had it that this team was losing the prominent sponsorship for the IRL team - is that true?

Pay cut is better than no job, but the IRL has many woes so this isn't unexpected. Hopefully, the good people working with these teams can hang on - it's tough out there.

That I am not privvy to. I know that when Newman-Haas takes Milkme Duno it's a money grab thing so economy is affecting them. No more deep pockets at the series owners anymore, Tony G.and Brian France especially.

TG is getting pressure from his family. I only read about the France pull back today, but again - totally understandable

oh please say it isn't so?!?

I think Paul Newman would be rolling over in his grave if that happened.
