Heh.. I checked this thread less than 5 minutes ago.. impressive.. no wonder you got nabbed speeding.. I was out at the track around lunch.. crowd was bigger than I expected, especially with the gates not opening until 4pm. We're home relaxing, cooling off.. Hot as hell out there right now.. We'll head back out around 5:30.. seats in section PU135, row 65... Pit out, high enough to see the backstretch.. Todd
IRL races at TMS are always a blast. I've not been to any Wisnton/Nextel cup races but I've been to lots of Busch races, and a half dozen IRL races. Give me IRL over stock cars at TMS. The IRL always puts on a good show, last night was no different. couple pics Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
The racing was a lot of fun to watch, but after 13 hours at the track, I was a little beat. The lack of a Penske swag hauler was a little weird, There was only a couple of team swag haulers there; A/G (lots of autographed race used equipment for sale), Danica, and Target. We tried a different parking location this time, but never again will I stray from the tried and true, Petty Lane is the best place to park. When we park there, we can get out of a race in about 20 minutes. We sat for over an hour before we moved. I did get some good autographs; (Indy 500 Winners flag) 1. Eddie 'The Idiot' 2. Bobby Rahal 3. Al Unser Sr. 4. Buddy Rice 5. Dan Wheldon Other asst. autographs. 1. Scott Dixon 2. Tony Kanan Saw A.J. in his golf cart. Saw Marco riding his scooter to his hauler. Saw Thomas Schecter riding his scooter. Saw Kim Green Saw Phillipe Giaffone, which a NASCAR fan (He got his autograph) translated into Marco Andretti. Texas seems to just bring em out. Rusty Wallace almost ran us over in his Golf Cart, and all he could say is 'Hey guys.' Patrick Dempsey was in front of us at the starter stand. The funniest was when Selena Ray (sp?) was standing around and these girls gave their autograph material to her and asked her to get Patrick's autograph. She didn't stick around long after giving it to him. Anybody else like the 'I Am Indy' slogan?
Do you know what focal length was for the images that you posted? I am trying to find out if my 200mm lens would be adequate for shooting from the stands at similar events. To identify the focal length, right click the image in Windows explorer and select Properties. Click on the Summary tab and the Advanced button. The focal length will be halfway down the list. TIA...
Learn something new every day! 1st shot: 8mm focal length 2nd shot: 23mm 3rd shot: 23mm 4th shot: 23mm Hope this helps.
Yep ... I am pretty sure I would be able to get decent close-ups with my lens ... maybe I will drive down from H-town and join you guys next year for the same event. Thanks
