Just came back from a private screening. Great movie I must say. It was pretty much a setup for more to come. If any of you saw it, what did you guys think?

I saw the trailers and it seemed poorly written/ drug boy seemed to play himself. I heard a few different trailers over the radio and I got the same feeling. Did you notice that in the movie?

I actually thought Downey Jr. did a decent job. I've never really been a big fan of him, but I thought he did a decent job. Or it could of been the Gwyneth Paltrow, shes just too damn hot. :p

He is actually the perfect choice to play Tony Stark. Stark was an alcoholic in the comic books....

You're clearly crazy, as the Silver Surfer is a demi-god imbued with a portion of Galactus' (devourer of worlds) cosmic powers. He can exceed the speed of light, and is virtually indestructible! Presumably the Cloverfield lizard-thing was destroyed by a nuke, since the government was able to salvage the footage from Central Park, so I'm assuming they found some method by which to kill it. The jury is still out, however, on Iron Man vs. Cloverfield...

If you can for a moment, remove a comic book film from it's genre and view it just as a film and it still stands up, then I believe it's a great movie. Batman Begins did this for me as it was such a grand story with characters who you could care about and great performances from the actors portraying them. I love comic book movies but usually have to just relegate them to the faults of their genre and enjoy them for what they are. Iron Man, like Batman Begins, actually has something to offer the viewer. It's a great balance of drama and action. I don't think the previews do the movie justice. The Super Bowl spot in particular actually did the movie a disservice as it featured special effects shots that were not yet finished. Truth be told the finished product looks spectacular. I know no technology like this exists but for two hours I was thoroughly captured by this star turned drug addict, playing a millionaire industrialist/playboy using technology that doesn't exist, fighting the evils of the world.

Saw it again tonight. This time at the Cinerama Dome. Director Jon Favreau and Robert Downey Jr. introduced the film, and then sat down right in front of me, Gwyneth Paltrow later joined them as well. For some reason my friend had a sharpie on him, so I got my ticket signed by Downey Jr. They also had the Iron man costume on display. Took a few pics with my Iphone. BTW, the part after the credits was pretty cool.

straight from the Wiki on the Cloverfield ending (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cloverfield):

The film continues with Rob and Beth's Coney Island date, during which a distant object can be seen falling from the sky and crashing into the ocean.

At the end of the closing credits, a short radio transmission is played, in which a voice seems to whisper, "Help us" (reversing this clip reveals the voice is actually saying "It's still alive").

Obviously Clover is some sort of godlike/otherworldly being, as it cannot be damaged or injured via conventional weaponary. Not technology or even Black Sabbath can save Iron Man from receiving a herculean crushing in this matchup.

Back on topic, the movie looks like a lot of fun.

No idea. It seamed like he wasn't there. While he was introducing the movie, he told the crowd that he used to smoke pot up in the back of the theater. LOL. He was also choking on something during the film, and the lady sitting next to him gave him something to drink.

LOL! Though I do go to a lot of early screenings. Actually I saw a movie last year that doesn't come out for a few more months. LOL. So it is possible. :D
