http://en.espnf1.com/f1/motorsport/story/5796.html I like Eddie much more as a commentator than a driver. His style is very direct and refreshing.
JB was given the shove to make way for MS. Merc call the shots Murdered I doubt it, covering all the options IMO, Mclaren have done the right thing, and JB could have done alot worse for himself.
Rubens 'good little peddler' Too funny. I think this is somewhat objective overall. JB is smooth but EJ points out how often he has not been quickest. I believe JB will be lucky to be 2nd in points next year. If the car is amazing maybe he will be. I dont think LH will have to worry about JB as his primary opponent.
Not true.Brawn said he felt betrayed, and if it was'nt true, Button's camp would have voiced something and would have denounced any disloyalty.
I'm trying to remember the last time Irvine was right on anything he's predicted. Hmmmmmm... That would be -- NEVER?
Interesting that he says that JB made the calculated decision to get beat by LH instead of N. Rosberg. Jens would not THINK that Nico was faster than him in equal cars, so I don't think this is the case. So, I am on the side of JB being forced out at Brawn--whether directly or indirectly. I do think LH will beat him regularly.
Like that PR BS matters, get real money talks Merc wanted German drivers, something they could not get at Mclaren hence they bought Ross Brawns major stake.
In a word NO, not at all. JB impressed me last year, I admit he was looking out of his depth at some stages when Rubens was beating him and the others were on the march catching him. However in Brazil IMO he showed his true skill, he can turn it on when it matters under immense pressure. If he keeps his head down at Mclaren and doesn't go to war with Lewis he will do fine. Lewis is a aggressive driver and a joy to watch, JB super smooth kinder to the car and this may be to his advantage with no fuel stops. Whatever happens I don't see him being murdered.
Well Lewis is one of the best drivers and we have the great MS with multi WDC's and we have Alonso with 2 WDC's, all could get embarrassed. Lewis has embarrassed all his team mates, it will be great to see if he can continue this. Button knows what he is up against, he will do better than HK A Prost like mentality will see him though, that may rattle Lewis's head. Lewis is Mclaren, if Button has any sense he will live at Mclaren HQ and make himself welcome to everyone tea boy included.
I totally agree with Eddie. Button is gonna get destroyed next year by Lewis. He just isn't that good.
I don't know Steve; I think you are hoping against hope here. Heikki did beat Fisi and Fisi did beat Button... IMO Button will look a lot like Heikki did at McLaren, talented but not as talented as Hammi. The no refueling rule is a non issue since Hammi more than proved that he can race heavy and still gain places on the track. He raced several one stoppers in 2009 and still was able passed at will. In Brazil he ran an impromptu one stop race, starting 2 places behind Button in the still slower Mclaren and finished 2 places in front of Button. You also have to consider that Hamilton has never lost to a teammate (in his entire racing career since he was 7 not just F1) and I doubt he would have lost to any of the drivers Button lost to as well. IMO testing this year is going to say a lot. I believe when Hamilton comes out he will be 3-5 tenths per lap faster than Button and will remain so at most tracks throughout the season. Regards,
I wouldn't say Button will get Murdered by Hamilton next year. Roundly and soundly pulverized sure, but murdered no.
I'm actually in the middle of my annual watching of F1 from 1990 onwards, and I happen to be just starting Brasil 1999, so I've had quite a few races recently with Irvine. Always brings a laugh to hear him talk and then watch him drive...
The difference between the two, imo, is that Button is an efficient "driver" while Hamilton is a hyper-competitive "racer". I'm much more interested in seeing Hami vs Schuey/Vettel/Alonzo in competitve cars than Hami v JB. JB will get wins when the frontrunners cock it up or he has the superior car, but I wouldn't put him in the same class as those four. Actually, I'm not even sure if Vettel is maybe right behind those four.
LOL Well Don your gonna say that and your probably quite right. JB is not expected to beat him so less pressure, Hamilton's achievements in racing are outstanding so what a amazing bench mark to aim to beat. JB lacks the raw pace compared to Hamilton, and I'am sure he knows that so if he is clever, he will play it different as I said more mathematical Prost like. 1st year at Mclaren JB has it all to do though Lewis was near enough born at Mclaren, so he knows the ways. Add Alonso to the mix and of course MS, Vettel ect providing.. (good cars) so if JB keeps getting consistent results and picks up points, and steers his way through the carnage of the fighters who knows.. Non the less it's going to be very interesting to watch all this play out..
Eddie showed brief moments of brilliance on the track but his ego distanced him from his fans, he is nothing more than an arrogant tool.
