Will 296 GTB replace the F8 model? Or new line up V6 Ferrari ???
Most people here seem to say no. I don't know, but in the post-IPO Ferrari, they don't seem to be leaving much money on the table when it comes to keeping shareholders happy...T
looks like it kicks the ass of F8. Considering the v8 of F8 sounds terrible, 296 looks like a successor to F8 than a new model line.
i think they mean its a new segment for ferrari being hybrid v6 but will still be entry level mid engine model so goodbye to f8 and any hope of a track version.
They said it's a new segment, and that the 296 not replacing the F8... But they refused to comment about what would come next for the F8. My theory would be that this new "fun to drive segment" (their words, not mines) will be for internal combustion engine / hybrid, and that the F8 could be replaced by an all-electric model (they said F8 segment is for "maximum power / minimum weight car", whatever that means, because that's also apply for the 296, but make sense for an electric car.).
Ferrari dealer told me the two will sell side by side. Perhaps over time when the F8 sales numbers reduce and they end production it won't be replaced and the 296 becomes the de facto successor.
Now ive read ferrari does plan to keep both models going simultaneously. They know best so we will see
Well, if there is still a NA V12 coming in 2023/2024, perhaps the V8 can survive indeed. Interesting times.
Guys I can 100% confirm that F8 production will stop around August of next year, 2022 model year is the end. The F8 was a tribute to the V8 model, a tribute because they will not longer make a mid engine V8, the 296 is replacing the mid-engine variant which started with the 308 GTB, this is why the nomenclature of "Tributo" for the F8 and "GTB" for the 296, its the beginning of the GTB all over again. Ask you dealer to order an F8 for 2023 and you will see its impossible.
Should this be the case I would think depreciation on the F8 is going to be huge. Me, prefer the F8 based on powertrain alone....however I suspect "must have the latest, fastest" will see F8 orders shrink.
OR it will go the other way being the LAST of the V8's. Who knows. I'm keeping my F8 spider allocation (hope to have by end of year)...and thinking that there just won't be too many of them (they simply haven't had time to make that many and they're stopping in 1 year)...and it's the last of the V8's. Then I'll have time to see how the 296 pans out. I also just got first in line (deposit yesterday) for a 296 spider or GTS should that appear in 2023 or whenever. It's fun to play this game while driving a 488 GTB while I wait for it all. Won't complain a bit if I guess wrong on some depreciation issues. Life's too short and I get a LOT of smiles from my miles.
I saw the new car today in the streets. Looks like a Jaguar with lambo side mirrors and Mitsubishi headlights.
Thanks, Ferrari. Speciale’s prices are only going up after every new model appears. The only new Ferrari that interests me now is V12 Competizione, piece of art. And V12’s, as we know them today, are close to its end. New era!
I’ve seen two units actually, red and black and Rear quarter looks like a Jaguar…. at Ferrari rack rate though
Same here. I really want the 296 Spider but I’m told it’s at least 1-1/2 years out from being in my hands. So I’ll keep the F8 Spider allocation and should see it 6 months from now, depreciation be damned. We lost one of our friends to colon cancer this week. He was 52. Life is indeed too short to worry.
