I know how ferraris are more reliable when they are driven and properly maintained, but having researched some cars for my uncle, i found a 2001 360 coupe, 6 speed manual, black on black with 38 000km, this car will be driven quite often and i was wondering what specific things shall i check for in the service, what should have been done by now? what is there to look forward to? what about the clutch, if it lasted this long, driving it wisely would there be much more life left?

    Thank you very much.

I think the milage is ok. I have a 2000 model with about 40,000 km. It is on the first clutch, which is still fine.

    It should have:

    1) 3 to 4 annual services.
    2) Belts changed.
    3) All recalls should have been carried out.

Worth checking if the car has any modifications and if so get the original parts which were replaced. If the car is tracked often, the strain on the car would be much higher than indicated by the milage, so worth checking with the seller.

Get as much papers as you can on the car to establish the history. e.g no of disk pads and tyres replaced. If theses are replaced frequently, it probably means the car has been driven hard.

Make sure to check the alignment as this could be knocked out quite easily.

If you are not sure, take a Ferrari specialist with you for the inspection. Could save a small fortune.

No, the mileage is fine IF the service history is good and complete. These cars are very capable of high mileage if serviced properly. There are more and more great higher mileage 360's out there. The list above is good. Insist on having a belt change if it has not been done and be sure the cam variators have been replaced. Both these items can be expensive and should be done on a 2001my car with that mileage.

I bought a 360f1 and it had 50000k on the clock, was a daily driver and the car was in perfect condition with all services done. I had it checked over and it was literally as good as new. The clutch and belts had just been done. I would not worry about the k's as long as the driver has done all necessary recalls and services.
