I know a guy superstar in phys. fitness field has a maroon one
It had a 429 Ford in it.
Built in Italy by Bob Reisner.
I sort of think of them as $14,000 cars. Am I way way off?

    A 351C weights in at abt 550lbs and a 429 about 640lbs, chevy 350 575 lbs, 455 685lbs. 426 hemi 700 lbs
small manufacturers using American motors had a few choices, but there were no "crate" engines back then. Shelby, Bizzarini and DeTomaso reworked some of the motors but there were few available options. The 429 had the better torque numbers

I don't know about the Murena. I suppose it's worth what a buyer and seller would agree on, like anything else. I don't think they made too many, (like less than 50), so there are not many "comps" out there.

As to Reisner's choice of the big block motor, I think this car was targeted at the Lamborghini Espada type client who had maybe half the money to spend. It was intended to be a highway cruiser so the nose heavy-ness would be of less concern than for an out-and-out sports car.

Frank Reisner was an interesting guy. There are some YouTube videos of his wife talking about the history of the Intermeccanica company.

Road & Track did a Driving Impression of the Murena in September 1970.

"By our standards, the Murena 429GT is none too good a car, but judging by the excitement it causes on the road it may be just the thing for image-conscious American-car enthusiasts with $15,000 to spend." "While the enthusiasm and potential is there, the Murena company has a long way to go to earn a place beside the other makes in that price range."

I can't think of any reason why anyone would actually want to OWN one, other than the curiosity factor.

Anything with a 429 that looks weird has to be fun to own. Pull up to the stop light , laugh like you won't be here tomorrow and lay your foot to the floor......
