I watch speed channel for most of my auto/motor racing. I can never hear the commentators over the engine noise. All I hear is the F1 car buzz the whole race and and also recently on the supercross race. I messed with my volume setup on my TV to no avail. It seemd like that only on the HD showing. The motogp and WSBK are in regular viewing and have no problem with the hearing the commentators. Anybody else have same issues?

Are you listening directly through your TV, or through a receiver/surround sound?

The only thing I can think of is that the HD might be hard coded to do surround, but the TV is only doing stereo. Sorry I can't be much help, but good luck with the problem.

Are you running an HD receiver with an SD TV?

I find I have trouble hearing the dialog on some films on the HD-only channels.
But that could just be film actors who never learned to project to the second balcony. ;)

My Dish DVR lets me select HD or SD feed for Speed channel.
Because I time-shift the F1 coverage (to skip over the commercial breaks), I use the SD feed ... to take less disk space.
(And I'm watching through an SD TV.)
I didn't have trouble hearing the commentary. But I did find that the text graphics were a bit fuzzy in SD.

Is FOM actually providing an HD feed, this year? Or is Speed up-converting the usual FOM feed to HD?

DGS.... you are using lingo I don't speak ;)

It is a HD receiver but not sure on the SD TV part. The TV is a Phillips plasma tv 1080p 240hz. I am going DVRing the race upstairs next time and see if it does the same there too.

    Thanks for the input.
