I am a freshman at Texas A&M and am currently in the general studies major, but have been thinking of changing to Urban and Regional Planning. I was just wondering if anyone held a position similar to this and could give me some insight into the job market with a degree like this. I have read up on the American Planning Association website, but nothing can beat real life experience directly from a person.

    Thanks guys,

    Chris

As a consultant to developers I work with planners. Not all, but most of the jobs will be working for government. I do see more private planning consultants and grant specialists working as contractors for small communities who can't justify in house staff. The $ is in the private sector.

How is the money if one worked for the government? Is it really low like in other industries working for the government?
