Hi guys, My great grand daughter Holly 15, is spending her summer vacation with us. On the weekends I take her for a spin in my 308 GTSi. All she can say, over and over again, is I love this car, and pledges to have one some day. She got a big kick out of all of the people giving us thumbs up and waving, and smiling. When she arrived I presented her with a red F tee shirt and red hat. She was very excited. The other day she asked me if there are any Fcars around the small town she lives in Gainesville, MO. I didn't know but we looked on the midwest thread, and found some larger towns around that may, Springfield and Branson. She is in contact with her teenage friends by text mail constantly. She sent them pix of the car and her ride. It seems they didn't want to believe her story about her grandpa having a Fcar. In that small town, 680 population, there is little chance of seeing one drive by. She wondered if there is a chance that maybe a couple of Fchatters would plan a trip and show off thier cars one weekend. She has 12 or so friends that would dearly love to see some and maybe get to ride in one. I told her of some of the neat things our members do like this. If I lived in the area I sure would. Anyway she asked if I would post this and see. I bet the whole town would turn out, maybe have a town picnic. Here is a pix of her in the car. This would be a lot of fun. I purchased my #22127 from Micheal Wilhoit, he's in Springfield, MO.......as far as I know he'still there......
Theres gotta be some there in Springfield - I bought my 308 there. If she were closer to Oklahoma I would be up for that trip. PDG
Rob, that's wonderful of you to help your grand daughter find a positive passion like that. Too often I see young people lost in a world of information overload (internet)...and with too little passion or direction for anything of any real value. One might think that our fancy f-cars are just a daliance (and to some degree that's right) but if they can be an instrument of community, and help bring people together to find a special and common bond then that's wonderful. I know I found cars, and car people, to be a big influence in my early life and I'm thankful to have had the exposure at a young age. My son seems to be similarly inclined, and I'm happy to see that. Good luck finding some camraderie for her in her locale!
There are Ferraris in Springfield and Branson, but almost zero chance of seeing one roll around Gainesville unless some local members planned a trip that way like you describe. If the kids just want to see a few cars, there are some dealers in Springfield with physical inventory. They might be a little jittery about turning a dozen kids loose around exotics, but you may try reaching out to them.
