Is backfire ok...to live with???

    I have backfire on my 308 carb... now during idling. It backfire a little one time every 30 seconds or so..... The other day we, FC Thailand had a sprinter, many members like the sound of my carb car sound idling plus this backfire. You don't hear that every often these days. Plus I was the only one with carb. They have Tubi in their new injector cars but carb sound roar and louder at idle. So If I am to leave the car as it is with a little backfire at idle, will this hurt any of the engine part or anywhere in a short run or long run??? Comment please...

    Could be a blocked slow running jet, or maybe you're running a bit lean on one cylinder.

    Or the low speed ignition points may be going bad. The car should not backfire.

    But to answer your question, no I don't think it will hurt the car at this point; but it ain't gonna get better. When it gets worse you will step on the gas and all you will get is something that sounds like a rifle shot. Trust me on that one.
