If you have seen pictures, proof, talked to the body shop which is certified by Ferrari.... Does bodywork make the car worth less / much less?

    What about at different severities?

    1) Minor damage? (fixing up a bumper or something)

    2) Minor+ damage? (fixing a quarter panel, etc...)

    3) Medium damage? (body but no frame?)

    Cheers.

IMO no matter for options 1 & 2, as long as theyre fixed properly, however I also beleive in driving the car every day, so i would expect stone chips and dings over time also.

some people who love the Garage queen mentality may disagree with me, however when I got my car the front end was perfect, 15k's on however it now has a myriad of stone chips etc, i just look at them and think, oh well, i can repaint it if i need to.

Only if the damage can be picked up on a surface check spotted or from a detailed inspection would the value fall. A poorly resprayed paint job to fix a minor scratch can have a huge impact on resale - the purchaser will be aware that there's been a fix yet will be left speculating whether it's was a simple scratch repair or a more major accident repair. The opposite can be said about a major repair job done to As New perfection. What's more important is your guage of the honesty of the seller.

I would say no problems with 1 or 2. 3 would most likely show up on Carfax so the value would be diminished in the mind of most buyers.

Thank you all for your opinions.

I find it pretty common that minor body work is on many cars. Much of this to keep the car in pristine condition, which I totally understand.

This particular car is interesting. The car fax shows no sign on the accident, but the deal is a very honest and straigtforward shop that actually let me talk to the guy who did the bodywork and documented it. I trust him based on the fact that he didn't need to disclose it.

    Thank you for the information.

There are some buyers who want a total 100% virgin original car and will pay top dollar. But for the vast majority of cars that are driven at least some, it should have no effect for minor paint or scratch repair. Stuff happens and most Ferraris, as noted above, will get lots of rock chips on the nose (paint is pretty thin) so many cars get nose resprays. The older a car is and the more miles it has, the more forgiveness you will get for minor bumps and bruises.

If & when I sell my F355 I will show this picture. I just saw the car after being in the shop for 4 months. It looks so good. All the seams have the same gap. The paint job was wet sanded & the whole ten yards. Looks Better than new in my opinion. But i'm sure it will exclude certian buyers.
