Is David Lee on Ferrarichat?

I was looking for same thing, so I'd bump this topic

No. He really wouldn't be.

His stories are sometimes inaccurate just like some of his vintage Ferraris.

There is a much greater wealth of knowledge on this board than David Lee. I respect his enthusiasm for the brand and of course for his business etc...

But...

When it comes to Ferrari lore... There were guys on here who the history is written about... He is a guy who has briefly read the history book.

 

I was unaware of this. Can you provide examples of when his stories were inaccurate? What do you mean by “just like some of his vintage ferraris”?

Both quoted for truth. Lee is a cool guy but in no way a Ferrari historian. He says wrong stuff all of the time.

And no, no one is going to go back and watch the videos to find the incorrect statements. Life is too short.

 

I didn't realize this. Never really seen him outside of a couple videos.

 

thats the problem with social media. People think because one has a big presence they must be an expert.

Im a professional artist, have been for decades. Very well known and considered very good and have won many awards*. Yet my social media is tiny and 'artist' who are terrible, yet great on camera personality, have millions of followers so people think they are great. but they arent. They are great at marketing themselves is all.

* I bring this up for context not braggadocio.

Im glad you didnt take my posts as 'aholish'. I just want to be clear I think David Lee seems like a cool guy and certainly loves Ferrari.

But if you want to hear from real experts look for the posts from Marcel Massini as far as heritage and the real facts about the company. He is a world recognized expert on Ferrari and posts in FChat all the time.

As for my art, not for this thread but if you ever get really bored you can google me.

 

Of course not! I'm 30, so I luckily just missed the cut-off for the overly sensitive crowd haha.

I have seen a couple of Marcel's posts before, he seems very knowledgeable like you said. Is he a collector, or does he have deeper roots with Ferrari?

I will definitely google your username and find some of your art. I think that's cool there are users on FChat who are successful in a wide range of professions!

For more on Marcel, check out the Marcel Massini thread in the Who’s Who In The Ferrari Universe section above. His provenance report on a vintage Ferrari can add many thousands to the sale price.

Googling Jerry’s user name will bring up a lot about Sumerian mythology and ancient alien theories. Not much about special effects and pop culture sculpture and collectibles.

Tons of extremely accomplished and successful folks here freely sharing their expertise. Just be open, and you can learn a lot here. I have.

 

I would 100% agree that David Lee is no Ferrari historian. If you listen carefully in some of his videos he does have many errors. Personally I feel like he just looks up the info on the web and just makes himself sound like he knows what he is talking about. I bet their are more people on this chat that know more about Ferrari’s then David Lee. I watched some of his videos he just on it to promote himself and his company.

Jerry’s account is limited as to who can view it, so I am not able to get his name. You are correct about the username not turning up any relevant results. In my mind, it was possible that he uses that username for an art page he runs as well.

I’ve already learned quite a few things about different Ferrari’s and Ferrari history. I have some sort of car disease, because I take great pleasure in learning about all of this even though the chance of me ever owning a Ferrari is extremely low. Happy to be here though!

What kind of ROI would that provide? He has spent a ton on Fcars. Seems like he could sell more watches marketing another way. At any rate, he seems like an enthusiast to me and has never claimed to be a historian or expert. A lot of car enthusiasts don't know the ins and outs of their cars/manufactures let alone the technical aspect of how stuff works on cars in general. I'm glad he shares his cars with others and not just locally at shows but on video for those of us that don't get to see them in detail let alone in person ever. Too many hidden car collections imo.

 

Not sure what kind of ROI but without the Ferraris no one would care about him or his store. Im not criticizing his choice, just saying that I believe his Ferrari journey is most likely tied to growing his business imo.
