Talking 0-62 is imo quite useless since every magazine get diffrent times from their tests of car. Some magazines has done 3.6 with the enzo others 3.3... is the other driver much faster then the one who did 3.6?
So what i mean is that if one person "did" 3.3 with the enzo, one person did 3.2 with the mclaren f1... its hard to really say the f1 is faster...maybe it was just the weather conditions, "better" driver in it?

anyway to answer your question i think the following cars could fight for the title....
Mclaren f1, Enzo, Veyron or the Koenigsegg ccr

...In fact the 1/4 mile is quite decent as well....

When you're talking about supercars capable of 220 mph, 0-60 times tell very little of the story. The 1/4 miles is a better indicator.

I fact i would even consider 0-200 or 0-300 (kmh...)
as they are less sensible to traction problems at low speed, and to human factors....

Go back a few years and look at the scary mother of them all, the 917/30 Porsche 0- 60:2.1, 0-100Mph 3.9, 0-200mph 13.4.
    1100Bhp@8000rpm,1098Nm torque@6400 all way back in 1973!
I know it's a Can Am car, but you got to get a grin out of the figures.
    Cheers!

The ultima gtr does 2.7 to sixty and 5.5 to 100. Utter lunacy. I have a feeling the veyron will not break those records because of the fact when all is said and done, the thing still ways 4300 pounds and even with 987 horsepower does not have better power to weight ratio than the mclaren f1. Power to weight might not matter when there is a thousand horsepower in back of you though.

I guess acceleration-wise, the Ultima "could" keep its record, it's a fact.
And in handling as well, it's a race car, afterall.....

And we don't even talk about the price/speed ratio...

On 0-100 it could have a chance (the turbo) but afterwards, you also need massive power.

    or the radical?

although, these are more toys than actual cars (despite being some sort of street legal)

furthermore, all these cars that are 2.5-3.5 seconds to 62mph, really depend on the driver to make shifts or shift at optimal rpm, and to just keep the car going straight and true with minimal wheelspin. i think as we approach this level, the driver plays a significant part in the comparison. notice on 'ring records they put the driver's name nest to the car that did it? they have the system nailed down there

Of "real" driveable cars. I think the Saleen S7 TT has the current crown. Veyron might take it though.

    Yawn ... define 'car'?

And when you have all finished arguing about that (after about 400 posts) then you can attempt to answer it.

All in all who fncken cares ;) ... unless you are racing and then you are back arguing about the definition of 'car' again ... as I can think of some top fuel dragsters that might just beat the poor old Enzo ;)

Well if it's a Ferrari that's the fastest then it won't be Enzo for sure as FXX has better performance as I read in the new Forza magazine (issue 64, I think) more capacity, HP and if I remember correctly 0-62 mph quicker than Enzo by about 1/2 a second!

Nah you guys have it all wrong.

For the all out, no holds bard, quickest and fastest accelerating car, look no further than a NHRA Top Fuel Dragster.

    0-330mph = 4.5 seconds

Hmmm, I was going to say that............... 0-100 mph--1.1 seconds. Equate that to leaving from a stop light and be doing over 100 mph by the time you reach the other side of the intersection.

I used to do that stuff, but not top fuel. View my profile for the last car I ran.....This was a long time ago.....1970's, 80's................

I'm sure the Guiness Book of World records shows the fastest time from 0-60mph for a road legal car as 2.09 seconds for a Ford RS200. Anyone got a Guiness Book to hand?

Also a few years back, Tiger tried to top it with their twin Hyabusa engined Lotus 7 copy. 4 wheel drive (each pair of wheels driven by each engine). Their basic road setup got very close, about 2.6. Don't know how their record attempt went.

As mentioned in another thread, how fast did that Caddie Allante get up to when it was dropped out of the back of that airplane in the Charlie Sheen flick? I bet it hit 200 because it was dropped out of a plane moving at least that fast.

What about the flying car in the Last Starfigher? Or Speed's Mach 5? Some Hotwheels sets and RC cars claim 300 scale top speed. So does that mean 0-60 time, in their scale, is in miliseconds?

Define acceleration car and I think you would get a more forward answer... but just to play along, actual "road" car, Dauer is the fastest I ever saw... unless you count the tuners like the Hennesey Viper, 2.08 seconds claimed in the DuPont Registry ad? Oh no, here we go again.

    RocketBoy

Ariel Atom and Radical? Oh yeah, I saw one of those at the grocery store today, the other at Home Depot.
