it seems that when i joined f chat several months ago, their was more spirited debate, and lively conversation...perhaps its because some of the more controversial members were barred fronm the web site....have all the good topics already been discussed?some of the members jump on people for bring up a topic that was discussed in the past in some form, telling them to check the archives...perhaps i should be trolling the archives for interesting discussions?..it cant be me, because my friends tell me i have been a bore my whole life, so that hasnt changed!!!!

Better segmented forums keep most of the lively "crap" from appearing in GFD. In my opinion, it's a good thing.

i dont think f-chat is getting boring at all. you just have to limit your time on here everyday. if your on for hours a day it will get boring pretty quick. i allow enough time in between to let new topics come up so when i log on there is alot of new topics, makes it more enjoyable imo.

Hmm, I notice most of your posts aren't Ferrari related.

    two random thoughts.

when a board gets "big" or "mature" there's a TON of data stored in the archives. so the 50% ;) of the new folks who understand that there's a search function can get 80% or more of their answers without posting initially. so that cuts down stuff, in theory.

second, ime, boards have cyclical need and involvement for each participant. you may have had a need (you were researching and then bought an f-car) and then you might not need much from the board for a while so it seems "boring".

    maybe you're just a boring guy. ;) ;) ;)

Yes it is boring of late, why?

    - The 0846 dispute has died down ... and seems to be getting close to a majority agreeing.
    - F1 is fncken boring because it is a 1 horse race.
    - Nothing much else to talk about.

The fact of the matter is that this board actually works. If you have a question about a modern Ferrari car or a 250 car someone will answer with an experienced answer.
If all you want to know is a bunch of crap, you will probably get back a bunch of crap.
Thats just how it works around here.

Just because there is no childish name calling doesn't mean it has to be boring.

I think when the driving season slows down for a few of us things will pick-up.

Go watch WWF wrestling if you can't take it anymore. Nothing personal, entertainment comes in many levels.

Also we all find different things interesting.

For me, for a long time, 0846 was my main interest. Now that it is restored and all the interesting parts hidden ... I am not as interested. A car like that is beautiful to me because of all the engineering details ... while the body is fantastic, it is almost a shame to cloth it :(.

F1 is the other reason I come here ... and well we all know there is hardly anything to talk about there.

BUT I am sure things will pop up in time, especially in the historic section.

Some are much more interested than me in the new(er) Ferraris ... and thus the F430 coming out soon must be very interesting.

Um, i'd like to refute that... :)

Cycle, whenever FerrariChat seems slow, i go into the politics and religion forum and spout some crap about conspiracies and right wing nazis and all other sorts of jibberish and that really gets the blood pumping on here... :)

I think that the general discussion has died down a little due to people finally using the individual segments. I enjoy reading the general discussion, so this is a bummer for me, but I understand that for people who are interested in their model of car, or who have already decided on one model that they want to purchase this is a convient organization. I guess it is time for me to pick a couple of sections to read, and get away from the general discussion forum a little more. Damn, does this mean I have to have an idea which Ferrari I want to buy when I am ready?? Tough decision, any suggestions? :)

I think that's a good thing. :) However, I realize others like the controversy and fights of the Allan Lambo days.

As said before, I also think this is what gives that perception. The many sub sections make it harder to get the varied exposure without 'working for it'. All of the really interesting content is still there, just more venues - which also is an elegant built-in hedge against grandstanding flamers - just not the exposure of one thread.

Now in the old days when we all only frequented the few available sections - Hoo-boy! Full forward shields Mr Scott!!!
I'm convinced Rob is a very good, tolerant and understanding party host...

FChat is my AM & PM newspaper. Sometimes it is boring and other times it getting pretty fun. You will find more fun things to read in the winter when we are all bummed out when it's raining!

The forum is a fun as you want to make it! It is also a place to cruise around and share knowledge YOU have to others that need advice, etc.

It's not what FChat can do for you, it's what you can do for FChat!
