These days regulations seem to change every 5 years or so in response to a teams dominance. In a few years time hopefully these terrible regs will be reversed which will solve a number of problems.

All very worrying though...especially with regard to the tracks

    This is another great article

TV audiences are falling in Germany even when a German team, and a German driver, lead both championships. When that occurs, something is seriously wrong because it goes against the basic instinct of all followers of sport, which is to be partisan.'

I'm still blown away by this, and had to re-read it:

It says everything you need to know about Formula One's current grasp of social media that its official Twitter account has fewer followers than the Brazuca, the official ball of the 2014 FIFA World Cup.

In fact it has under half the number of followers, a paltry 835,000 to the Brazuca's two million. And it gets worse. While the Brazuca account tweets several times an hour, the official F1 account tweeted just three times during the Austrian Grand Prix, linking out at seemingly random intervals to a live timing screen which also leaves plenty to be desired.

You still have old youtube videos of F1 from 1997-2001 to keep you company on your tablet PC, and the good thing is even 3G is enough for that, you do not need expensive 4G. Maybe people just do not get old style 90s racing anymore, I mean even NASCAR is falling off. An even live streaming will not work, because of the numerous distractions that were not there in the 90s, the thing is a 90 minute race is just too long to hold people's atention span in the super high speed internet era. Back then in the 90s and early 2000s, you basically had limited choices other than to sit on the couch and watch a GP race.

As much as I hate how Bernie has run things - he has made most of the people in F-1 Rich... from the drivers to the mechanics ... they are all earning huge money for their jobs.

if you take bernie away - then the money will slowly go too... and you will have some sort of 1970'sesque F-1 where the teams and organizers and FIA fight it out ... not going to work.

CVC et al paid big $ to Bernie and that is how he has the cash to keep the teams in line... the question is will the teams be able to come up with the cash to take CVC out? or will CVC buy out the teams with more money than Bernie?

Ferrari, McLaren, Williams are not going anywhere - they are earning over $1B from F-1 now... that is going to be impossible to replace on their own. so its a symbiotic relationship... fubar relationship but one that makes $$$ none the less.

Ok, then you list a bunch of restrictions, why not let them do what they want?

I love sprint races, 20 laps and go, then set the cars up and do it again.
