I can not open google or gmail from any of my computers. Is anyone else having this problem?
Thanks. A friend I was talking to on msn messenger was able to open it on her computer as well. I still can't.
I'm on charter cable. Could they be blocking it or something? This is driving me nuts; all I want to do is check my e-mail. lol
Working for me! Try accessing it through MS Outlook. There are guides on the net to help you with this.
Thanks. I will look for the instructions. I have been wanting to use outlook but didn't know it was possible with web based mail. I use outlook to get my mail from my earthlink accounts but I can't send b/c it is not accesed using earthlink. Can I send through outlook using a gmail acct?
Yeah im pretty sure that you would be able to do that. Just be careful. When you set up and activate your gmail through Outlook, it downloads all the Gmail messages. Which could take ages. There probably is a way to stop that but it happened to me. And you should also create a "rule" that puts all Gmail messages in their own folder.
Thanks. I am trying to set it up to where I have seperate outlook icons for each acct. I did this with eudora a long time ago. I think i need to make a new folder and copy the outlook exe into it and that should let me set each up different. thanks again
Copying the .exe thing didnt work so I just set up folders with rules in outlook. I just found instructions on how to access gmail and am about to set it up.
Ike, what exactly happens when you go to "www.gmail.com"...? Seeing as how mine is working and, apparently, everyone else's is, as well, that would frustrate the hell outta me...
I'm just going to wait until the morning when I am at another computer. Thanks for all of your help. I have outlook all set up for gmail now. I didn't even think it was possible. I am still trying to figure out why I can not access any google sites from my home connection. I am trying to get in touch with someone I know locally that has the same charter cable connection as I have to see if he can access google. I really don't know why I can't get it. It isn't the computer b/c none of the computers here can get it. Thanks again
doubtful that is a firewall problem. most likely a browser hijacker. go here: http://www.spychecker.com/download/download_hijackthis.html download, install and 'scan & save log file' send it over to me, or past it in this thread. you might have to do it in a few PMs if needed.
Here is the log. I have removed the netscape items in the past and they keep coming back. I don't use netscape so I don't know why they are there. I am about to uninstall netscape. it could be a cache issue. i have the same problem from my werk pooter sometimes, and all i get is a little yellow O. just hit F5 or CTRL-F5 to refresh the page. try going to Tools, Internet Options, General, then click Settings, and change the "Check for newer versions of stored pages" to "every visit to the page". if pain persists, insult your neighbour.
Charter tech support is a joke. The guy could not understand that everything works but google sites. He told me that if other things work then my service is on and that was about all he could tell me.
