Is it just me? My car runs better on 2nd startup

Due to the fact that my new 330 GT 2+2 has been hogging my driving time, I have only driven the 328GTB every few weeks lately. Today I took the 328 out and it ran fine- no problems but felt a little stiff. I drove it 60 miles and then stopped for gas (1/3 tank remaining) for about 10 minutes max. Got back in the car and drove off- what a difference! I am not talking just about more power, which it did seem to have 30 extra horses but steering, and suspension- everything felt better. Is it my imagination or is this real. I have noticed this before. Man I ripped thru the country side on the last 15 miles!
