OK, Im having an issue! It's been less than 3 weeks since selling my 430 and it's at least 5 months till the 599 arrives. Im literally having dreams of driving the 430 only to wake up and realize it's gone. My anticipation over the 599 is bordering on insanity. I miss the 430, I can't stand waiting for the 599, I can't friggin' take this anymore!

I have a HUGE (for me) property purchase coming up that is keeping me from being totally irrational and buying something now. I almost bought a Maser QP GT-S, but I can't seem to justify that either because I know that when the 599 arrives it wont get any attention. I like to drive my Ferrari everyday. I drove the 430 everyday and I plan to drive the 599 everyday AND take it on LONG trips to Vegas, Palm Springs, Etc.........

OK, Im done venting, ranting, etc........All I know is that Ive been bitten by the Ferrari bug and it's terminal!

The wife and I are switching off between an 09' Range Rover Supercharged and an 08' 997 TT Cab six speed.......But Im basically driving the Porsche everyday.......It's a fine car in many ways, but driving a manual in Los Angeles traffic is not fun. Even when there's no traffic it's a pretty boring car and I don't trust the handling. I hate that it revs so low, the combo of AWD and Turbo's makes the car hesitate a bit, which I detest. I would much prefer a Carrera S with the new PDK and direct injection.......My wife always wanted a Turbo Cab and she LOVES it, manual and all.

I did read through that thread recently, I got excited for a minute but after thinking about it for 5 minutes.......it's not for me.

If you make that long trip to Vegas, let me know! I'll let you take out my F430 just for ol' time sakes. Think of it as a bit of rehab.

No problem. Now... let's see. A $1000 deposit (non refundable) plus $50 a mile plus gas, tax, road hazard insurance... hmmmm

JUST KIDDING! Let me know. If I'm in town, it would be my pleasure.

November will be here quicker than you think. Heck, it's almost the 4th of July.

So you gave up the Ferrari F430 and have put up with driving a Porsche 911 Turbo Cabriolet in Southern California for the next five gruling months before your new Ferrari 599 GTB arrives?

    - Life is crap :)

I understand your pain :( I have to wait 5 months to drive my dad's 599 again every time term starts and I have to return to Melbourne to study. On the bright side, at least you have a manual 997TT Cab!! I'll trade you my 6 speed RX-8 for that :p

Easy get a 02 Maserati Coupe for $30K slap a Tubi on it and drive it till November. It will still be worth close to what you paid and it should satisfy your "Ferrari" itch till then. If you close your eyes and listen to a Maser GT with a tubi you will think you are hearing a Ferrari!

So.... You got four to six months if things go well and the 599 is on time. I hope that the stork flies on schedule, and the time goes quickly!

So what to do for the summer months? With the exotic market so down right now, especially for Lambos, why not go for a Gallardo, just for something different, keep it until the winter and then sell it in SoCal or Fla?

SuperLeggeras are insane, awesome cars, and I know of a slightly used black one (1400 miles) for > 100k off, and there's a new yellow one from a dealer with 50 miles for ~100k off. Wow! Keep in mind the car is extreme, damn firm suspension, but I drove one and it knocked my socks off. I went for a regular G (an SE actually) because it had a six speed and was a little more usable than the SL (it replaced a 430, so I feel your pain having owned and then sold one). I love Ferraris, but after owning it a while, might be some tough decisions in the future for a replacement - between Cali, 430 successor, and a Gallardo 560....

Another option is an Audi R8, that's an amazing daily driver, that's definitely on my list as my main car at some point - I was blown away when I drove one - the balance between supercar and toned down/usable daily wheels was fantastic.

Now you mentioned you had a house/land deal cooking, so any car might be a huge impedance mismatch right now, so sorry if that's the case and you already considered all these options, and/or something like this is completely off the table anyway...

If you were really just looking more for moral support for the few months wait, I can tell you that I've been through that more times than I can remember, for cars, guitars, and other music gear - it always passes quicker than I think it will, especially if you have other fun things to do, and it sounds like you're covered there.

So either way, the important thing to note: that 599 is going to rule. Seriously rule.

That's funny that you mention the Superleggera because I was just looking at one last week. I couldn't believe that they tanked so hard in price! I've never even driven a Lambo, so maybe I'll take one for a test drive. There was one at Exclusive Motor Cars here in L.A. a while back, maybe I'll see if it's still there.......As far as having to wait for the property deal to happen it's thankfully giving me that little bit of pause before buying something that I only plan on keeping 5 or 6 months. Even the Lambo might be hard to unload in 6 months without taking a pretty bad hit.
I will admit that Im getting crazy over this but as you know Gordie once you've played a 59' Les Paul Standard through
a a Blackface Fender Amp, all else somewhat of a let down (my buddy just picked up the sickest 59' Paul that I have ever played, Im ruined!!!).........

SO TRUE! Her late father (my hero, seriously, he was "The most interesting man in the world") drove Ferrari's, Lambo's, etc, In fact he had the first Diablo in So Cal. She has pictures of her driving his Testarossa from the 80's that is classic!
She had the big hair and all! Brilliant!! Im REALLY lucky that she gets it, in fact she talked me into the 599!
The best part is that she LOVES to be my passenger when I do canyon runs and long drives....She covered MANY of those 27K miles in my 430 with me. She also can drive the crap outa any car. She wanted the 997 with a manual cause she loves the driver involvement, she ripped it up in the 430 as well........not to mention that she's a REALLY hot MILF!

Anyhow, Thankfully I can come here and share my insanity with you guys. It's helping me......Thanks!

Its a long wait but beleive me you will find the 599 to be a very different experience to the 430, the mid range torque of the V12 is something to behold, but am sure me telling you these things isnt helping the wait ;)

Seriously though maybe look at picking up a used Audi R8, people tell me itsa great usable everyday car, I have heard a few and they sound great.

Oh man - A '59 Les Paul through a blackface Fender. I had to go and drive around some nice corners and make some engine music to get the longing out of my head after you said that! (But that's what I meant about getting you through the next few months waiting for the 599!)
