When I was with FoDallas, it was our policy not to post pictures of the cars that were in the shop. This was done out of courtesy and respect for the owners of the cars. Why should we expose someone else's car to the internet and let the world know where the car was at that moment. Like when we had the SWB California Spider in the shop. If some unscrupulous thief wanted to acquire one, he would know exactly where to look. Our security system and cameras worked well but why put the temptation up in the first place. They were not our cars and we certainly would not have liked that done to one our own cars without our permission.

Like on our tours. The people on the tours were advised before the tour began that they were welcome to take pictures for their personal collection but were asked not to display them on the internet...........I forget who took the pictures on the FoHOuston tour and posted them with his company logo attached to all of them but Rob was asked, as moderator of Ferrarichat, to remove them by Mr. Risi. Rob did so and earned more respect from myself and the others at FoD and FoH for doing so.

I believe it is poor judgment to go ahead and post pictures while the cars are in the shop, on private property, without the car owners permission. If the cars are at a public event or outdoors at a public business then take all you want, just not in the shop...............

I can't hold my tongue here. You are ready to wipe the floor with any mechanic that posts anonymous pics of a customers car yet you find it completely acceptable to post photos of scantily clad gals who apparantly are friends of yours (you mention one of their names) so that faceless viewers from across the world can view them and discuss their breasts?

No offense... just thought it seemed a bit odd. By the way thank you for defending this great country of ours and all the freedoms we enjoy.

If I owned a very expensive car, I would probably feel this way: If the shop can prove to me that they have the insurance or money to cover my car if it is stolen while in their shop by someone who found out the car was there because they saw the photos on the Internet, then fine. But I'm not losing my pride and joy, nor taking the insurance hit just so some mechanic can show off.

(haven't taken a car to a mechanic in my life so I don't know why I even have an opinion on this, ha!)

As long as the owner has given the OK to it, mine have appeared in adds for a couple of the specialist's I use without a problem (but they did ask first)

Tom, please mention it to the owner then if its OK keep posting pictures, its always intersting looking at what might go wrong!

Yes, I think is is proper......

with the vehicle owner's approval and anonymity for the owner and car.

Specifically, the Countach clutch is a fascinating pictorial. Not that I will ever own one, but as a "gear head" I love to see the intricacies of engine removal, empty engine bay and clutch install procedure.

    Without permission......

no, it is not proper and I agree the pictures should stop.
