I almost bought a 488 in 2016 but was told that it was quiet and had a lot of turbo lag. I ended up buying an F12 instead. I’ve enjoyed the car over the last 16 months. It’s a 2014 that I bought with 6000 Miles. It now has 19,000 miles on it. I’ve really enjoyed it. It’s seen track days and drives to the mountains and work and Walmart. Last week I drove the 488 for the first time and thought it was incredible. Much better sounding than I’d imagined and laser sharp handling that the rearward mid engine configuration makes possible. Anyone move from an F12 to a 488? Thoughts??

Why not get both? They compliment each other very well.

I went from a 488 to an f12. I'm selling the f12 now, but don't know what to get next. I really want to try a 720s, but will wait a little till prices come down. The 488 is much improved over the 458. You can get a great deal on used ones now. I don't know if I'd replace the f12 with a 488 as they are pretty different cars, but if your just looking to try something different, go for it. There's definitely no lag for the turbo and the handling is very good on the 488.

Two totally different animals. A GT vs a sports car. Different driving position, comfort, usability. Will you take your wife/girlfriend out to dinner in a 488 - nope. In a F12. - yep. Different.

Not really a fan of the looks. Too contrived for my tastes.

F 12 remains the Ferrari s essence, the 488 is just a consumer product without soul !

Why sell the F12? Just to get something different? As nice as the 488 is I wonder if the engine compares with the quality and sound of the F12 powertrain?

I changed a 599 GTB for a 488 GTB; while the 599 is clearly a step behind the F12 I suppose the spirit of the change is similar.
The front engined V12 and the rear-mid V8 are very different cars, so they cannot be directly compared.
One thing though - while apparently many despise the turbochargers, they allow the V8 to have a response (I am talking about the response, not the sound ;) ) that's closer to that of the V12, whereas previous NA V8 had a totally different character.

Update. I ordered a new (soulless [emoji23][emoji23][emoji23]) 488 Spider. It will arrive in 3-4 months. I got rid of the F12 for a temp 458 Spider while I wait. Can’t wait. 488 Spider is fun as hell.

Agreed. The power band on the 488 is what sold me. I always loved the looks and go cart like responsiveness but the linear feel of the power curve was shocking. I did a no fly zone 1/2 mile recently and was absolutely annihilated by a 488...on my best run of the day.
