I really cant stand the man. Is Jesse Jackson all this country has? Everytime there is a hostage situation Jackson comes in the middle, soaks up the publicity. What an awful man!

I don't care for the guy at all, but I don't care how much spotlight he gets or anything else so long as he gets a few of our troops free.

Huh. I thought you meant Janet Jackson. I had totally forgotten about the good Rev. Jesse. My main man. Well, there's always Al Sharpton, but the hair do might put off our enemy. Then, again... (Actually, i get a kick out of Sharpton, except for the Tawana Brawley thing, and his race-baiting).
Howz about, Jimmi Carter? Jane Fonda? The Pope?

Well, since the US will not nego with these people, I dont know what he can do. Me thinks he is simply trying to make a few more headlines.

Yeah- Jes. Jackson NEVER would CONSIDER race-baiting would he?! So far as I can tell, he thinks that the primary color for his "Rainbow" Push Coalition is black.

I remember when he showed up with his merry band of idiots on a grayhound bus here in H-Town to "negotiate" on behalf of all the displaced Enron workers.

Workers: "Uh, yeah... um... thanks Mr. Jackson, but I think I'll go this one alone... no, no, I do NOT want fries with my severance package... thank you though."

I have a deep appreciation and respect for the contribution that the majority of african-americans have on our society. The "good reverend" is not one of them though.

He is a glory hound. He's that person in the office that jumps to solve everyone's problem. He's that cousin/uncle/whoever who immediately criticizes and tells you how things should be done.

Ironically, for his big head, his head is disproportionately small for his body. I said hey to him once at the Honolulu airport as he was coming to the luggage carousel. I assume he was there to negotiate the return of the Hawaiian islands back to the natives and free them from haole oppression.

BTW, I also thought you meant Janet when I clicked. Going to free the Iraqi women from clothing.

EDIT: I'm surprised he keeps the Reverend moniker, seeing as he admitted to having an illegitimate child and all.

Looks like you guys are watching too much Superbowl TV :D I don't have a TV so no problems here, and no boobies. LOL.

His Rainbow Coaltion is BS, man he just gets my blood boiling. He uses his rait baiting technique and the "plight of black people" for his own benefit only. Its sick. If he said he wants to only make money, fine, but he doesn't. He pretends to help people. I remember when he sued Toyota for couple of billion for not hiring enough minorities. LAter news surfaced his son got 4 dealerships out of that deal!

    What a scumbag!

If you need more barf material, he did the same with Coca Cola. He likes to go to corporate boardrooms, threaten legal action. Usually the corp doesn't like bad publicity, they recruit some minorities, and throw Mr. Jackson some free stuff. His eldest son got many coke distributorships as well. He was one of the largest in Chicago if I remember correctly.

Yeah, read it a while back. Shocking. What's more shocking is how many others there are like Jackson, abusing the system and milking the political system for personal gain.

I'm with yall. I don't like the guy. I think he tries to put his nose where it doesn't belong and for the most part isn't wanted. His only agenda is to look out for himself and "his so called people". The Rainbow Coalition is worthless.

***** and whine if you must, but his success rate speaks volumes about his ability to negociate the release of US persons held captive overseas.....the best news one could hear (other than 'You're free to go') would be "Jesse Jackson is coming to negociate your release" - soon followed by "You're free to go".

We should send SAMUEL L. Jackson. Just watching him get angry onscreen makes me nervous.

Just send Jacko into the village and a riot will break out just to get near him.

Simultaneously we jam all TV broadcasts with footage of the exposed boobies of Janet Jackson, to mesmerize the grown men who haven't run out to see Michael with the women and children.

Then Samuel L. Jackson busts in to the captor's hideout yelling, "OH I'M SORRY DID THAT BREAK YOUR CONCENTRATION?!"

His sidekick, Carl Weathers, aka Action Jackson, then frees the hostages.

Back in the US, Jesse Jackson holds a press conference and says it was his new Rainbow Six Coalition that freed the hostages.

That whole utterance just doesn't sound right... Hmmm...

M.James is right- read the article that Ryan posted, it says right there: Jackson has been instrumental in securing the release of other American hostages.

Who would you want in there, Jesse Jackson (who may or may not have used and manipulated the system to no end like countless other, WHITE public figures just like him) or someone else who HASN'T "been instrumental in securing the release of other American hostages."

    Rock on, Jesse.

Carbon, I know many times I say things that are politically incorect, and we tend to disagree on those points. I have no doubts that J. Jackson tends to get our hostages back. More power to him. However, he does it for his personal gaining of wealth, and I don't like that. You might say whites do the same thing blah blah, but whites aren't out there saying "everybody is keeping us down, lets make this a fair world, and then taking their percentage from that." In my opinion (I can't be very articulate now, short on time), J. Jackson's actions might be good (getting hostages out, helping minorities), but he does it in the name of the almighty $, and not from his heart. To me that is the difference, and thus I don't like him. He doesn't care about the plight of black america or our hostages, all he cares about is his personal gain. You could say well all Americans are like that (generalizing here), and I would agree. But the difference with Jesse is he MASKS his own ambition with these fake propaganda of helping people.

Carbon - as you may know, I am a Honky and my fiancee and her son are black. Her Mother, brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews, cousins think the same of Jesse Jackson that any of my former Black girlfriends and their families did and do... and the same as my and our Black friends and acquaintances. I can honestly say that without a single detractor or argument - this is the aforementioned collective view:

Jesse Jackson looks out for Jesse Jackson under the auspices of looking out for others.
    __

Possible dialogue close to end of negotiations:
    Jesse: Don't trust whitey.
    Abdul: Fair enough.
Jesse: Now about that oil contract you're giving me...
    Abdul: Mmmm, no.
Jesse: Don't make me boycott your oil, brother.
    Abdul: Mmmm, OK.
Jesse: Done. Remember, don't trust whitey.
