MSC didn’t have the Williams pace. The Williams was a better car. It’s a miracle it went down to the Last race of the season. Had the drivers been swapped Schumacher would have been wdc way before the last race that’s for sure.

I love Ferrari, and yet I will say, just like when Vettel turned into Hamilton in Baku, shameful acts are shameful acts.

Karma is a ***** in this sport.

Yes, I was on Ham's side when Vettel flipped out under the SC and tagged him. Vettel is lucky to have not gotten a race ban.

    He’s so stupid.
He should have been banned 3 or 4 races for this.
Now he’s trying to be more woke than woke.
Completely understand now why Binotto fired him so abruptly.

    3 or 4 is overkill.

I don't care about his politics. I share some of them. Not that it matters. After 18', he should've been gone. Incidents in Baku, France, Germany, Monza, Japan, and US that were absolutely embarrassing.

I sincerely believe that his analytical capacity is limited.
    .
Instead of realizing his psychological weakness especially in duels on the track he persisted in his mistakes systematically blaming others.
Today he still does not understand the reasons for his descent since 2014.

The one thing that is clear to me is that he is not in the same generational tier as Hamilton and Alonso. Vettel threw away a championship and Alonso nearly took it from him in 2012.

Don't even bring that up. I flew 21 hours just to have that **** show to unfold a few meters from me. I was dressed head to toe in red and everyone around me was expressing their sympathy. The Chainsmokers were epic, though! :D

I didn’t know much about Vet as I got into the sport right in 2014, right before he joined Ferrari. All I knew was he got 4 consecutive championships.

what turned me off was his unforced spins.

It really is odd, the epitome for me was the German spin. Nobody around him at all. Sure, I get it is raining, but nobody else spun, let alone with the lead.

I mean you see it even now as it happens when he’s a back marker. Nikita Mazespin, sure, but this is supposed to be a potential GOAT at one point? What the hell happened?

I think he lost all passion for the sport. He has turned into a character as of lately. I think once Charles showed up, he felt he wasn’t the number one child anymore.

"Greatest of all times" does not mean much in a sport in which all conditions change over time.
In F1, cars are different, rules are different, tracks are different...
Comparing drivers of different periods is more or less not making sense at all.
In his time, certainly (no matter one likes him or not) Hamilton is (or has been) one of the best drivers according to his results (since not all drivers have the same car and the same team, even there it's difficult to tell if he was the very best or one of a few best).

Lewis is quite difficult to assess.

IMO to be considered the "GOTE" (Greatest Of The Era), one of the things to be considered is one must go virtually unbeaten by his teammates for starters. Lewis has not done this, being beaten over multiple seasons by his lesser teammates. His win percentage is incredible, but this is of course down to the car, too, like it is for any multi WDC.

About halfway through the 2010s Vettel was often nominated as a potential GOAT/GOTE, but we all saw how that went.

Adaptability is another extremely important aspect on how someone can be a great and this is where it stacks against Hamilton, too. Hamilton has almost always had a car that's at least "'up there", with the exception of the first half of 2009 when he had a dog, and a dog for a teammate. In the years he was beaten by teammates though, it's always been ''the car''. IMO it's a lack of adaptability why he got beaten. There is no reason to lose against Button, Rosberg or Russell.

Alonso is another who is always considered in the talk of GOAT. And IMO, he absolutely has to be in the conversation. His choice of teams has been poor at best, and certainly his first 15 years of working with a team, if not at least just for the public perception of how he works with the team. His stints at the Indy500, Le Mans, Dakar, that awful 2012 and 2014 Ferrari just shows how incredibly adaptability is. Last year has shown however, that time is not waiting for him either.

Michael is certainly a GOTE and If it wasn't for his return, he'd also have his hands firmly on the GOAT trophy as well. Whilst the wikipedia doesn't reveal all in the return, as certainly he performed very strongly in his older age, on a return, against fitter, motivated, younger guys, fact of the matter is he did get beaten. I firmly believe taking 3 years off absolutely harmed his former sharpness. Time waits for no man. Lets not forget his sportscar history, either.

Love him or hate him, Max absolutely has his hands on the GOTE throphy, too. The biggest thing against him? Beaten by Ricciardo in 2016 and 17. The two things Max has going there is 1) a serious lack of car racing experience, having only done 1 season in a backmarker F3 team (and damn nearly won the title for them) and 2) it being his 3rd F1 season by the end of 2017. He's never looked back since. He's shown supreme adaptability to cars that are difficult to drive (no driver WANTS a difficult to drive car, it just so happens that he CAN drive them) and situations. Ruthless yes, too ruthless even to some...the man lives and breathes racing, and I'm sure he'll follow the same path as Alonso going to sportscars before long too...and he'll rack up the wins there. And that'll put his hands on the GOAT trophy...Right now he only does those races virtually and he's genuinely incredible at that.

Lewis has undeniably got his hands on the GOTE trophy. Anyone amassing that amount of wins surely has to. It's early days in his Ferrari career but I think Leclerc is going to be another driver that'll beat Lewis.

Agreed. Just like Schumacher, and Vettell before, Hamilton is staying too long in F1.
Their last F1 years tarnished their reputation, and it does for Lewis.
I hope Max won't do the same.
But I guess money is a big incentive to stay in the game.

I think had the F1 Race Director not just made up his own rules in the final race of 2021, Hamilton would have retired then from the top with 8 WDCs. He's got enough money, I think it was the itch to drive for Ferrari and holding onto some vague hope that'd be the shakeup that'd make WDC #8 possible before retirement.

    All the best,
    Andrew.

I think Max will see out his current contract, at the very least try the 2026 cars. If they're as bad as assumed, I can see him leave earlier and move to sports cars for a few years, and likely make a return IF F1 does the V10 return in 2030.

GOTE not even close. GOTE do not almost lose to Massa or lose to Rosberg.
