My 1983 QV GTSi had the "cold start" where the engine revs high until a certain engine temp triggers it to relax to normal idle. My 1984 QV Mondial Coupe had the same thing.
Just bought a 1985 Mondial QV Cab and it doesn't have the "cold start"...or it's so warm here in FL that maybe the system knows it's 'warm enough'? Any experts out there who know?

Yes it has an auxilary air valve. When cold it should be at higher rpms when first started.

Thanks...that's what I thought. Hmmmmm. Now what? What part do I need to replace for the cold start to function?...is it called the 'auxilary air valve'?

Say, would a faulty aux air valve make the car run any different at normal operating temp?
    Anyone know? Thanks!

(Assuming these are both US verison F)

Your '83 308QV had/has an AAV and a cold start air valve -- so the cold start-up RPM is very high.

Your '85 Mondial QV only has an AAV -- so the cold start RPM will only be a little bit higher than the warm idle RPM.

My US 1985 QV Cabriolet used to hit around 1500RPM for the cold start portion then settle down to about 900.
