Not that I'm selling but looking at parts costs on ebay motors, some of the smallest parts are huge money

Most of the high priced parts you see on there have been on there for years. They are not selling at those prices. I found in parting out a 360 and selling other 348 and 355 parts if you actually want to sell them in this lifetime they are actually moving for 1/2 to 1/3 of the prices you see on there. You can ask as much as you want but no one is buying unless the price is right.

Unless you have the space and enjoy selling parts, I don't think it is worth the trouble.

^ ditto to the above. Found some great deals by asking direct. 1/3 of the cost? Maybe even 1/4. Just depends on the part. Generally, I'd say sure, but you are going to be selling off parts for the next ten years. A finite amount of cars, and a small number o people who need those parts. It will take time.

If you want to sell parts see what your competition is selling similar parts for, and sell the part at a lower price.

Example: A few weeks ago there was a part I was interested in on eBay. Price was about $189. Searched around and to my surprise I found the same part for sale on Ricambi for about $120.

No way is that guy going to sell that part when a company like Ricambi is under his asking price.

You are not going to get rich parting out a Ferrari. Sell the whole car to some who is in the business of parting out cars, if that is what you want to do. In the long run you will get less, but at least the money is in your hand sooner.

I have often thought the same thing. My spider has 40k now and I have no intention of letting it sit. The paint is great. No sticky parts, dash is done, carpet is fantastic even behind seats under the top frame, seats show wear but not as much as you would expect, doesnt use oil so it would be stupid to sell it for the market price now. So what do you guys think its going to be worth when it has 80 or 90k? Interested in your opinions. What is it worth as a parts car?

Just about any car is worth more in parts, but its having the time, energy and storage space to gather that value in!

Agree that parts prices are generally stupidly high, there are load so parts I look at online but would never buy because they are asking way too much, traders greed I'm afraid. I can do without the parts and they can wait for their over inflated prices. The smart ones who set reasonable prices sell their parts and move plenty of stock.

+1 There was an article once in the Consumers Digest that researched this an found that just about any car cost about 3x's its cost to replicate in parts. You can imagine that as time goes on this ratio gets worse.

    ^^^^^this!

Reality is that these cars are nearing bottom, and that's probably an average sale price around 45. Cars with issues can be had for 15-25. parting any out will take a long time to realise profit but still beat current investment alternatives like CDs!

Don't be surprised to see a few street rods appear with a 355 drivetrain in some form............

I think it would be just the opposite. I would expect to see 355's with different drive trains. Before I would sell my 355 for $15000 I would put
A twin turbocharged sb Chevy making making 800 hp in it and get a personalized license plate that says
    I8A458

Yes. Small ding in front actually should have just repaired the bumper. Obviously your feelings are hurt. As a coping mechanism you are acting out. I see this often in small children or adults abused as a child. I can not help you. And JT it wasn't your fault Or mine now I'm done so drift away quietly
