Just read a story that Stoddart wants to use last year's engines for the Melbourne GP. That would be clearly against the rules and he risks that FIA will ban him. Only a unanimous agreement by the other teams would save him.

Now why on earth would anybody try to do this? Doesn't he have any engines at this moment or is he just trying to get some publicity for his home GP thinking that being on home turf they'll let him race anyway?

    I don't get it.

    Andreas,

from what i understand he wants to use last years car in last years trim also. His reasoning is that since his car was 2-3 seconds slower than the rest of the grid and the new rules were designed to slow down the cars he would have no advantage.

sounds to me he is broke and is waiting for the driver sponsorship$$$ to start development of a new car.

I think you're right. That would explain why he had that huge auction of really cool F1 memorabilia last year (a collection nobody wants to sell) and why he hired the 40+ year old money bag as a "test driver".

It is my understanding that all teams except Ferrari have agreed to "allow" him to race last year's car untile the new car is ready. I thought I read that Minardi are building a new car but will not have it ready for Melbourne and could not afford to make the old car legal as Ferrari have done.

By the way, there is an interesting interview with Stoddart in the February F1 Racing magazine.

Another reason why I wish Stoddart never joined F1. Not one week goes by, when I do not wish that Minardi absolutely go to hell!!!

People should complain about Minardi for lack of competition in F1 and stop blaming Ferrari for everything. It is the fault of teams such as Minardi who cannot compete and do not want to quit. Those teams spoil the show for everyone!

"Not one week goes by, when I do not wish that Minardi absolutely go to hell!!!"

Are you kidding? You wish Minardi to hell every freaking week of your life?
If you wished that on certain dictators, an ex-wife or an ogre of a boss I could relate- but Minardi????

And you think that all teams that cannot compete with Ferrari spoil the show?

Let's see, who does that leave? BAR and Williams- when they're lucky. Maybe Renault and McLaren- when they're lucky. But- when we judge from the last few year's results- there was not a single team that really competed- so I guess you're advocating a Ferrari only race?

I don't think that's gonna fly and I'm not sure very many folks would pay to see that- even if they let Rubens actually race.

I'd advise we ease up on the backmarkers- anyone who can pull together the scratch to just plain show up in today's overglorified, overhyped and outrageously overpriced F1 has done far more than you or I can and deserves a little credit- certainly they shouldn't be damned to hell just for trying.
