    Hello FerrariChat,

Finally in the market for a 456 as my first Ferrari in 2025. (While I can afford the actual car, I am still saving up for eventual maintenance costs which is a different topic altogether)
I have plenty of questions but I guess this is the most important for me regarding the 456.
Has anyone actually used a 456 as a four seater Ferrari for daily commute purposes? And is it comfortable in the backseat while in bumper to bumper traffic, bad roads, etc?

For context, I have a newborn son and the thought of someday bringing him to school in a Ferrari just makes me teary. I am also torn between the 456 and the 550/575M. My husband is frequently out of the country and while a 2-seater will suffice for most of the time, for those select moments when we are complete, it will be nice to travel around as a family in a 4-seater.

Please don’t say to buy an 612 or FF instead. I was born in the 90s and have childhood memories playing Need for Speed 3 with the 456 and 550.

    Thank you!

A 456M will likely have a better backseat for a car seat. Without the fixed armrest you will have more room.

If it's a rear facing one it just comes down to how far forward the front passenger will be that's still comfy.

The rear seats themselves are fairly deep. There can be lack of headroom with the slope of the top of the rear windshield. Same thing if you need to mount a mirror to see the baby. Just no room behind. Once you can go to forward facing and eventually booster it will be roomier for all. On the early cars there are no anchor points for a base or teather for highback, not sure if the later ones got either

Front seat backs are a known wear and weak point if you plan to continously move them you may be advised to plan on seat maintenance both motorized forward/back as well as seat back.

Not sure how well the back seats cool down in hot climate. The A/C is good, but not a ton of rear circulation thru the door vents

It's beautiful leather, kids are messy... but what a lucky kid growing up in a Ferrari

    Thank you for this.
Did not really know that there was a big difference interior backseat wise between the 456GT and 456M. I actually like the 456M better so that’s still a win for me.

Noted in the front seat backs and the motorized seats, did not really see this information anywhere else so far (at least on the FB groups, I just signed up to FerrariChat several months ago) with that said most of what I’ve been searching on for the past months have been related to maintenance, and maybe an odd post or two regarding vehicle mods.
I understand someone has managed to get 500hp out of their 456, if so that would be great! A 4-seater 550!

Then I realized I’ve got no information regarding the practicality (and comfort) of the 4-seats! :p

In a 456gt you can easily fit someone over 6 feet tall comfortably back there. Very well designed car. I also appreciate the Daytona hood scoops on the original 456 more but that’s besides the point

    Hi,

My wife and our oldest daughter (now 28 yrs) have never complained about sitting in the back. No daily commutes, but some long trips in Europe. Sometimes about 1000km per day. (600+ miles).

Latest independent service was almost €12,000 euros, incl. new spark plug wires, cleaning and checking of all 12 injectors, normal service plus the drive shaft gaiters replaced.

    Cheers!

The Helsinki Airport Hilton has (no joke) one of the most amazing breakfast’s anywhere.

Such a nice, clean and super dog friendly town!
