I saw this being debated in another thread, and made a new post rather than hijacking.

On the Top Gear show they keep calling the Enzo an F60 even though Ferrari never named it that. But I thought they came out with the F40 on the 40th anniversary of Ferrari, and same with the F50 on the 50th. So in 2008 or so when they come out with their next supercar, will the skip F60 and call it F70 if that lines up with how old the company is? When year was Ferrari started that they used for F40 and F50. Cause if this is the case, then maybe the Enzo is the F60. Any thoughts?

No it's not. They are calling the successor to the Enzo, the F60, but they might change the name from that.

OK the Enzo is not the F60, but you guys are missing the other part of my question. Will the next supercar be the F70 skipping F60?

Actually if you read my privious post, I addressed that.

The successor to the Enzo, as of now is called the F60, but that might change.

I guess some people don't realize what the 40 and 50 actually MEAN. (They're anniversaries, 1947-1987 is 40 years, hence the F40. WOW! That was a tough one)

Why would they name it F70? Ferrari 70th anniversary is in 2017. Long way to go....

The next supercar will be called F60 (60th anniversary in 2007) or maybe they will just stop this tradition and use a different name.

^ Thank you this is what I was wanting to know. So if the next one comes out in 2007 calling it the F60 would make perfect sense. I just wasn't sure when the 60th anniversary was.

Speaking of anniversaries and one that did not get a mention that I can recall on this site and I only just remembered when reading through the thread.

If my date is correct, the great Enzo Ferrari, died 14th August 1988 and was buried early either the next morning or the one after with virtually no fanfare?

So did we miss his anniversary?

I have the distinct feeling that based on the fact that they skipped the anniversary name for the enzo, they may never use it again. I heard that they may start using driver's names though.
