Dear Comrades, I am far from tall and find that Ferrari's fit me very well. However, I have observed that when tall people are sat in the F-40 they often need to bend their head forward to stop it from collidiing with the roof. I experience a similar problem when wearing my bowler hat and find that it may not be satisfactorily worn when driving the F40. Does anyone know whether the seat may be lowered? With kind regards, 512 Tea Are
Yes the seats can be lowered, but the only method I am aware of involves removing the rails and attaching the seats directly to the floor. The drivers side footwell is also signif deeper than the passenger foot well. The passenger side is signif tighter for tall people. A tall person may be uncomfortable as a passenger, but fit well in the driver's seat. So if you have a tall passenger, offer them the keys!
Dear Comrade Simon F-40, A very interesting post for I had no idea there was such a disparity - I doubt that many others were aware. I am to venture upon an interesting excursion on Sunday. My wife is to accompany me. I shall take your advice and allow her to drive the car. I am interested to learn whether there are any other contributors whose wife or girlfriend (or both) drive their 288, GT0, F-40, F-50, Enzo? With kind regards, 512 Tea Are
I am 6' 3" and the car fits like a glove. Its all about relaxing within that small space. But indeed it is well-known that the passenger side footwell is much shallower... This car has had the driver seat lowered relative to the passenger seat but unfortunatley the image is taken in an extremely artistic out-of-focus style so its difficult for me to illustrate the obvious. However the tree next to the car appears to be in focus Joe www.joesackey.com Image Unavailable, Please Login
My dear 512T&A, Would you be so kind as to post a photograph of yourself driving the F40 wearing a Bowler? This would positively make my day. 2NA
Dear Comrade 2NA, I have an image of myself with the Rolls. I also have images of my two gorgeous German Shepherd Dogs within the 512 Tea Are Behemothic Thaumaturgical Road Burning Dream Machine. However, I do not have an image of myself within the F-40 with a bowler hat. Nevertheless, when I next venture out in it thus attired I shall request that my wife takes an image or two. I shall transmit the images to Comrade Joe Sackey thus that he may post it on this Forum for all to admire. It's a half past twelve o'clock in England and I must away to bed. G'night With kind regards, 512 Tea Are
Nothing about the F40 is practical! Its a purpose built vehicle that (I think/feel) should never fit a gentleman with a bowler hat. No offence.
512 Tea Are has an F40 so he knows perfectly well what its' dimensions are ???? Another thread on an unknown frequency?
Dear Comrade bgck13, Comrade Joe Sackey, who is six feet three inches, has confirmed that he is perfectly comfortable when driving his F-40. With regard to yourself, much will depend on the length of your back. However, Jeremy Clarkson has driven my car when a television programme was made about it. Jeremy is six feet six inches tall and he fitted into it reasonably well. So I do think that you would be okay. If there is a problem we have a more than ample contingent of medics on here who hold an F-40 within their possession. Accordingly, I feel quite confident that they will be able to perform the necessary adjustments to you should this prove necessary So you have nothing to fear and all will be well. With kind regards, 512 Tea Are
I'm 6' 5" and I fit...then again, when you want to drive it bad enough, you channel Gumby through your body and conform as required.
Thank you. I have always been curious. I missed an opportunity to ride in an F40 at a local track a few months ago and I was really disapointed. I figured I could not fit anyways. I'll be there next time
You fit, really? Im 6-3 and barely fit. My head has about 1/2 clearance. Yes, it all depends on body proportions When I let my son drive a few weeks ago, I curled up like a squished ball in the passenger seat. I could only take 10 mins of it before I had him pull over. Of course, a ball in an F40 under full acceleration and testing cornering limits is bound to get beat up no matter what. ;-) Tim P.S. Hes still giggling like a little kid weeks later.
Kids get excited...my 3 yr old came home and spilled the beans to mom..."we went superfast...." that didn't go over too well...
Dear Comrade Graham....................I don't think the words "practical" and "F40" can be used in the same sentence I'm "short".........and its not practical! lol
Oh, I wouldn't make it up. And I spent a good 30+ minutes in the passenger seat as well. Now, note that I didn't say it was like riding around in a Cadillac. Also, I wasn't wearing a helmet, was city driving. I've been in an F40 (passenger) back when I was about 25 pounds heavier, with a helmet, and that was a, well, snug than I remember. But perhaps the excitement of being in an F40 over came the actual 'fit' of me in the car. I'm also a relatively skinny 6' 5" guy. Amir is the same height I believe, and he fits too (although with a seat mod I believe). BTW - being this height, I also failed to mention I look stupid getting in and out of the car....just like my Lotus.
512 Tea Are: Your GSDs are pretty huge! They are both males for sure and must weight around 40-45 kg each? Long-coats as well? I bet they do a good job guarding your humble yard... This is coming from another GSD enthusiast. I've got one next to me as I write this.
Dear club0, Thank you. Yes, they are the most fabulous pair of dogs. We have recently acquired another GSD puppykin. She's seven months old now, long coated but of a very unusual colouring - Black and Silver. Yet another wonderful creature. GSD's are the most wonderful of dogs. I occasionally take them out in the Rolls. They've also been within the 512 Tea Are and the Efforty. All good wishes from England. With kind regards, 512 Tea Are
Dear Comrade 512 Tea Are, Would it be possible of you to post a picture of the new GSD? I must agree that they are an exceptional breed of dog. All good wishes from Canada, rmk
Dear Comrade rmk, I do not have the expertise to post images as I possess little understanding of this nefarious box-of-tricks. Our Dearest Comrade Joe Sackey usually performs this function for me, but alas, he has been banished from the Forum to the nether regions of cyber space, but is to return again this week. An event that will no doubt be celebrated with a carnival With kind regards, 512 Tea Are
