FTR, I feel safer in my 308 than I would in several other cars I've seen from the same era --- with regard to fuel tanks in an accident.

The 1950's pickup trucks with the tank right behind the seat inside the cab made me a bit nervous, so i tried not to think about it.

Too late to worry about it now, isn't it?

Apart from the diaphrams leaking on the Webers, the next major concern should be the condition of all the lines and fuel tank.

In my case the fuel tanks are exposed to water/moisture. After 30 years there are problems to be corrected.

    Ciao,
    George

ATL used to have 308 series fuel cells in their catalog but no longer. You can still send in your tanks and they will set you up if you still have a need. :)

Trouble is the stock capacity is barely enough (at 12-18 mpg) to keep you from going from gas station to gas station ---- choking down the capacity by as much as 60% with foam-core fuel cells relegates you to grocery runs or a few laps at the track ;)
