Hi Robert..... aprove of your choice of cars fella!! :) So much more "soul" in an older car, sometimes harder to drive with no electronic trickery and in some cases, power steering.... but more of an event IMO.

And... with very few exceptions, just as quick through the twisty bits as newer cars.

It's not of my best side to be honest.

When I chose that picture I didn't realise who it was. But a couple of weeks back on a programme about Blackpool, there was a report on the '2006 Gurning Competition'. This fella was unbelievably the runner-up.

Good of you to start looking at the sensible ones, but you must remember its not just affording it, they are darn expensive to service as well

In the mid 80's a chap who owned a business near me had a mondial and I used to like it then.

However, I really like the Mondial t convertible in red.

Agree with Sy. I fancy a 3.2 Mondial convertable next. Drop-top Ferrari that you can also take the ankle biters out in, and for just under £20k.

Also a white one makes a brief appearance in 'Dirty Rotten Scoundrels'
Is that a Coupe or convertible as i've never seen the film.

There is also a Mondial Coupe have a drag race with the Batmobile in 'Rockstar'

Thanks, i really like the older cars. I think they have a lot of soul and the owners seem to have a lot of passion. I see too many "new" Ferrari owners that don't take care of their cars at all, they just take it for granted.

Its fantastic to be here, believe me. I wasn't sure i would fit in, you guys are older and have amazing cars etc. which i don't lol BUT i think it is great to hear about the experiences of owners from here. Maybe, sometime i might be able to see one of the owners from here's Ferrari, that would be amazing! Not sure how many live around by me though, but if you live in Worcestershire then send me a PM :D:D!

:)! Yes well, they are good cars. Thanks for the pictures, your Mondial is looking fantastic! I understand the "no trickery" part, i have a 1992 Mini Cooper as my car, no power steering, no ABS, no traction control and it even has a hydraulic clutch :D, but i love her!

Well, i wanted to be more sensible. I see they do cost a lot of money to run, i have promised myself one by the time i am 30 so i should have saved enough by then to afford it :D!

Thanks for all the nice comments guys, appreciated!

Keep an eye out for some of the events next year - such as the FOC Concours, See Red at Donington, Auto Italia and the Ferrari bash at Silverstone (60 years?). All of which get or will get good turnouts from the Ferrari community - including this one. They should prove good opportunities to put some faces to names...

Yeah, i may go to some of the events next year. I am already booked in for Autosport Live if anyone's going. I may try and get to some, especially at Silverstone, that is not too far away so should be fun! I'll keep a look out on here and on other places like Pistonheads for more info.

The Mondials get grief from the owners that can only own one Ferrari. Hence they either want a V12 flagship or the latest and greatest V8 sportscar and they never give the car the chance since it doesn't fit their view of what a Ferrari should be.

Look at it this way, if the snobs claim they only drank 1e bordeaux grand crus, they'd never get a chance to sample Petrus...

I've never quite understood why peple would slag off a mondial , after all its still a Ferrari , ok they're at the lower end of the price bracket but correct me if I'm wrong, most of them have got the same engine as the 308 , some have got the 348 engine in them and at the end of the day they still handle like ....welll a ferrari,
So is peoples decision to slag them off just a cover up for the fact that they either can't afford one or they haven't got the bollox to go ahead and buy one anyway
