I am trying to find out what mods if any my 78 carb Boxer has had done to it's engine. A previous owner spent some serious money having the engine
redone and I believe also modified by Zender in Germany.

The distributor has LM stamping on it and S158 and a few other hard to read numbers. Would this be a BBLM distributor? If so this would lead me to believe the car also has BBLM cams.

I have tried contacting Zender several times but they had a major fire several years ago and all records are lost from modified Ferraris and others so they can't help me according to them.

    Thanks in advance

Does your car have the Lucas fuel injection like factory BBLMs came with?

    No, just carbs.

Thats a good point since LMs have mechanical injection maybe the cams would not work well on a carb car.

So maybe carb Boxer distributors have LM stamped on all of them.

Std BB cams have just a few holes in the pulley mounting flange for timing adjustments (just like a 308), where as LM cars have fully drilled vernier adjustments all the way around the pulley flange of the cam (again, just like 308 factory sprint cams).

You can see this by eye in a few seconds.

But, that is not fully conclusive of course...just a guide
