There are 2-3 different configurations.....one piece & 2 piece seals.....I am about to replace my 4th seal in 2000 miles....this time a 2 piece.... I'm getting good at it, 3 1/2 hours out and 8 hours to replace and get all back to zero.....So it's become a "day job".

But this seal deal sucks....anyone know the "SECRET"?

    R&R Me

FYI....If it doesn't leak...DO NOT replace it!! (wish I'd followed that advice)

It really should last longer. Technique and attention to detail is very important. If the seal doesn't fit perfectly or the impeller doesn't run true it won't last long.

I install a one piece seal in every TR I service and never had a problem.

Might check the shaft runout next time you are in the WP. What the heck, also check to see that the shaft is centered in the seal's hole.

    FYI...
In 83958 (a '90) the two piece failed and the one piece worked.
