    Hi all,

I hope this is the appropriate forum for this question. I'm a new member considering a 308 GTS as my first Ferrari, possibly from out of state. Just wondering if there's a listing or registry or map of trusted mechanics around the country who could perform a PPI? Looked at the FAQ and did a few searches but couldn't find such a list (apologies if this has already been asked/answered).

    Thanks!

No, there is not --- but that would be a very good idea to put one together and have it archived here on F-Chat. You should suggest that to Rob or one of the Moderators.

    Thanks, Finnerty. I'm still new here - what's Rob's full username? :)

I agree this is a great idea. Although I ultimately ended up doing everything myself, one of the first questions I had when I joined was where to find a mechanic in my area. I think this community is large and robust enough to maintain a fairly good directory of mechanics and their reputation.

I think feasible, but not sure practical and accurate. The list changes with time and then it begs a bunch of trolling post this mechanic vs. another one who has done who wrong. Beauty of dynamic forum like FerrariChat you can post in regional are you live or where a car is and within day get complete and up to date recommendations who to use. Static information has never worked 100% on FerrariChat like registries, event listings, shop listings. The benefits may still outweigh the drawbacks.

As another example some of our respected members tried to start a short list of the most reputable shops. It was completely inaccurate as many great ones left off and some made the list that are well known duds.

Also , it should be a forgone conclusion that the mechanic should become a paid subscriber to Fchat. After all, his income will increase automatically. Once vetted on this site, everyone will benefit. Fair is fair. Jq.

mechanics also give back a bunch by offering expert advice. only ones I have problem with are ones that built up their business on FerrariChat, making a killing selling parts, don't give advice, and don't pay sponsors costs like a few dozen other shops do. OK if return value, but I have no use for the ones that take take take.

For an 'Angies List' of Ferrari mechanics, go the the appropriate FChat Regional Area, geographicals such as 'Northwest' or 'Chicago' or 'New England'. Start here, halfway down the page http://www.FerrariChat.com.

Introduce and post your desire for a recommended mechanic for PPI or whatever Ferrari services you need, and people will gladly provide a list of several good people which they have dealt with.

Thanks so much for all the responses, guys! My original thought was if there's a listing, it would cut down on a lot of repetitive asking, but I can see the issue with keeping a list up to date. I can just ask in the appropriate regional forums as necessary.
