    Hi,

Does anyone know whether the dealer network will provide details of a cars service history (confirm whether recall work has been done, clutch parts upgraded when last changes etc - as well as confirming the service history) for a car being sold privately?

Will main dealers do a pre-purchase inspection for a private buyer?

    Cheers
    Gary

I doubt it (data protection act) they will only give that info if you are already the owner.

But this isnt an issue for re-call work as its free and the dealer gets income from the manufacturer to do it so it benefits them to sort it if the car missed anything.

I bought my car from Stratstones in Cheshire, it had a full history, mainly JCT600,but I was not able to get a copy without the previous owners permission. I tried to contact him, to no avail,so no detailed history, just the stamped book.................

I had no problem getting info from dealers about cars service history etc, in both cases they were only to happy to help out. Maybe I was just lucky, one was Lancaster Porsche/Ferrari in Colchester the other was a Fiat main dealer.
Best thing is just to ask, they can only say no!!

    Good Luck.
