Long story. I did my config in Rosso Corsa before I could see the Rosso TRS sample. The photos above are from after my spec was done but before production and I didn’t want to risk delaying it further (that’s not my SF90 in the background). TRS vs Corsa I think boils down to how important this car is for you. If it’s a special thing you’re going to keep for a while, go for the more interesting paint. If you’ll be out of it in 3 years and on to the next thing, maybe then it’s not worth it. Rosso Corsa looks great on the 296.
I absolutely hate that, and I see it everywhere. Somehow I can spend countless hours looking at a hundred reviews of a $500 coffee grinder until I know it intimately, yet for a $500K car they expect me to spec it in an hour and never bother them again. Asking for any further details outside the ordinary is met with a grumble and a condescending stare.
I don’t think this is the dealer’s fault - most don’t have all of these samples. Your best bet is to try and get an atelier or tailor made appointment, perhaps in Maranello? Then you can see all of these colors in person. The next time I’m in NYC I do want to take detailed photos of the TM studio’s wall of paint samples for reference though.
I couldn't agree more. I am asking and begging my sales guy now for months. No help at all. Thats the reason why I read in this forum. Trying to get as much information as I could. When I bought my first Porsche 911 years ago, the salesman said: "Listen, everything we are talking about are things, you do not need. But things you would love to have. It is purely about emotions and the process of speccing your car should make you the happiest person on the planet, when your specced car arrives.". Right now I even think about canceling my order, because I have lost my joy in this process. Ferrari raises color prices like mad. You spec your car, while you are waiting for the car the color price goes from 12k€ to 25K€ and they expect you to say "oh thank you that you made my color less frequently seen on the streets". All I asked are 3-4 color samples to bring home and check in different lights and with my wife. Answer: " why don't you bring your wife here?". Because we both work hard for the money we spend at your place and it is not easy to leave two businesses alone in the field we work in!! And to even top this, the answer of my sales guy about a sample of Rosso F1 2007 was: " There is no need to get this color as a speedshape sample, because Ferrari doesn't hit the color constantly, we had the other day two different cars delivered with Rosso F1 2007 and both colors looked totally different". So what the hell would you do with a color option, that is inconstant, poorly applied and price wise open until delivery ?
It is the dealers fault. Come on, this is not a sales business with 50 Cent items. Every Ferrari Dealer has a paint shop they work with, if they are certified with Ferrari (as they have to to get paint jobs from Ferrari) all they need is a speedshape that costs nothing and the color code. But after asking 3 times, which paint shop my local Ferrari Dealer is working with I still wait for an answer. I did not ask for free of charge samples. Just samples. Or a recommendation as I have asked my dealer the same question as in the title of this thread. "I have never even heard of Rosso TRS". We are talking about a big german dealership.
When I was speccing my first new Ferrari, I was interested in Rosso Maranello for my 812SF, but had never seen it. The dealer had a sample made up for me and kept one for themselves. It helped the decision and I spent the money on the paint. Totally worth it but peace of mind is something. I have specced Magma and Galla Sirius without ever seeing a sample either, but took Tailor Made's advice, an they have never steered me wrong.
Cool, well done in life for this nice Garage.... I guess that if you describe your problem well, it can be done without having seen the color sample. But my Sales Rep does not want to be responsible for anything. Each time I ask: What do you think about...? The answer is: Thats up to you. I am used to give recommendations that somebody can rely on. Thats an important part of my business. So my question was: What could be an equivalent to Giallo triplo strato in red, that keeps its character in the shadows and sun, has a pearlescent appearance. So if you know your products, this should be easy, shouldn't it ? I am frustrated BUT: I found a paint shop that works for Ferrari and they will produce speedshape samples of those colors that I asked for. JESUS !!!!! As soon as I have them I shoot some photos and post them in case somebody has a comparable issue.
I can’t speak for Rosso TRS, but I would say Rosso Magma is in line with what you’re looking for as well. Still metallic in the shade, and doesn’t bleach out like Giallo Triplo Strato.
The Tailor Made wall doesn’t have all the available colors on it. There are many books and other samples too. I can’t imagine how they keep it all straight as there are hundreds of Image Unavailable, Please Login Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat.com mobile app
Will probably provide more accurate samples than directly from Ferrari lol. (I'm sorry guys it's totally a joke plz allocate me a F167)
Well, I finally have an appointment at the Atelier in Maranello at the end of May. So I will tell you soon
There's more on reds here...... https://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/threads/296-gts-what-rosso-should-i-pick.690233/
Fuoco at my dealer. It does look different IRL, less cherry more pure-red. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
I have owned Fiorano, Rosso Corsa Metalizatto, Coburn, Portofino, Rubino and Barchetta and I have Magma on the way. I have seen nearly all of the metallic reds in person either on a car or at Tailor Made. A few thoughts: Magma is the most pearlescent. But it's on the darker side. If you're looking for something closer to standard Rosso Corsa it might not be for you. Coburn is more of a pure red and is very sparkly. Metalizatto is not very metallic and is slightly darker than Rosso Corsa. I thought it was disappointing. F1 2007 is quite orange. But Rosso Corsa is also very orange. If you put a Rosso Corsa car next to a Coburn car, the Rosso Corsa car is going to look orange. Fuocco is a beautiful color that is very pearlescent that has a slight bit of orange. TRS I have not seen in person, but in pics it looks just like Rosso Corsa. Do you really want to pay $30K and then your car looks like a standard Rosso Corsa car in pics? Portofino is a beautiful color but not as sparkly as Magma. It's sort of a toned down, slightly darker Coburn. Maranello is a beautiful color in the sun. Maybe the most beautiful. But in the shade it's quite dark. From right to left: Coburn, Fiorano, Barchetta, Fiorano. My car is Rosso TRS. It’s a four layer pearlescent mica paint and is hard to capture properly in pictures. Put it next to Rosso Corsa and the difference is quite noticeable. I’m biased but it’s quite stunning in the metal. I was at Ferrari Challenge in Carmel this past weekend. Numerous conversations were started by people inquiring about the color. Image Unavailable, Please Login I just got my 296 GTS in Rosso TRS. We chose it because it is pure red and has no orange tint. It's even better in person than in photos. In the sunlight the metallic tint sparkles.
Thank you so much for your explanations. Fantastic car park you have , wow !!! The question you asked about if I am willing to pay 30k for a color that looks the same as standard RC is maybe the best question I have to ask myself. My answer at the moment would be: No. Not for 30k extra, maybe for 10-15k, but not all the way to 30. Have you an idea how much more expensive Rosso Coburn is compared to magma/fuoco ?
