1700 miles. Surely there must be a story. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Saw it in the back room of a local auction house. Dark blue/tan, F1 Hit pretty hard in the left rear, aluminum chassis fractured in several places, unknown transaxle damage, obvious bodywork problems. Looks like a very difficult fix. Connecticut inspection sticker. Which ones do you want? I'll whack'em off and sell'em to ya. It's mostly a real nice car with just enough wrong to probably end up as parts. The underside has quite a few paint marks around the "bad spots". I suspect there's been more than one cost-benefit analysis done before it ended up here.
Beautiful machine................errrrrr, once. Would be nice to part out. Anyone know what it sold for at auction?? Has it been auctioned yet?
Check out "Crankyape.com". The pictures on their web site look the same. Crankyape is an online auction for totaled, repo, etc. They have been trying to sell a black '87 328 that went for a swim. It made it up to around 21,500 last time through and did not meet the reserve. That was the third time it went up on the block. Cannon Falls is about 20 miles from home. I get down that way often enough and if the 599 is still around I'll take a look.
The Steering Wheel and Passenger airbags do not appear to have been triggered, nor does it look like the side airbags went off (but cannot be sure from the angle of the photos). Would the airbags have deployed if the car was parked and locked with the alarm set?? If so, I wonder if it could it have been parked when it was hit.
looks like he got sideways and into a pole, perhaps. That torque will get you, hope nobody was injured.
That is one good looking engine that you can actually see. I don't like engines that look like a lump of metal, wire and hoses covered up by a big hunk of plastic with some corporate logo.
I'd say the same. He went in HARD to snap all that aluminum tho..... Let me get my Bondo and I'll go happily crab walking down the road!!! Vroom! Vrooom!
