Is this a 355 Towing Eye?

    My 355 didn't have a tool kit when I bought it so I got myself one on ebay. The ebay one was minus the towing eye so I purchased one over the phone which arrived in the post yesterday. It doesn't fit into the toolkit slot but it sort of screws into the car as expected though I'm not convinced it's right.

    I'm pretty sure the toolkit is correct and the towing eye is wrong so here's a photo of the eye, please let me know what you think.

    yep

    Standard towing eye, the same one is used by lots of different manufacturers (the one from my 911c4 fits a 348)

    The thread on the end of the hook doesnt look right, I am sure its appears to be much too thin on the end. The hooks that I have seen on 355s have a much thicker end, with more overall thread.

    I was going to say it looks too short, and ric's photo proves it.

    The thread also looks iffy to me, and having had to use the real one, this could be a problem. The proper one's a pain in the arse to fit right, and god knows what would happen if the hole were stripped.

    Can Ferrari not sell you one separately? Alt. have a word with Verdis or a similar specialist...

    my 550 came without a tow eye. the dealer got me a new one, and i assume they didn't have to buy an entire tool kit or i woulda heard about the cost issue.

    as andrewg points out, i bet it's not entirely distinct to the 355 - ask and shop around.

    Thanks guys, this confirms I've got a correct 355 toolkit but a non-standard towing eye. I've another (more expensive) source for the towing eye so I'll give them a try.

    If anyone knows where I can get the genuine Ferrari towing eye for less than £50 please drop me a line.
