I guess my friend (who's also my neighbour) lucked out on a 30'ish K km, Canadian delivery red on black '85 GTS for $53K CAD. He just took delivery of it last night. The car is in excellent condition. He knew about it before me, otherwise I would have taken it!!

Good deals for good cars are still out there. I just keep missing them!

Ultra low miles on that car. Dollars to doughnuts they're asking six figures for a red GTS

I agree. In almost five years of ownership, I've seen another 308 on the road maybe a couple times, and never when I'm in my own...other than C&O or Rides to Remember. I've certainly never seen another GTB QV anywhere.

In 5 years, the only other carburetted 308 GTB I have seen here in the NY/NJ area is 76Steel's car and that was in the shop without wheels, suspension or steering rack when I saw it so not sure that counts :)

In an area where Ferraris are almost common 308s are rare. Even at shows.

Maybe there are more 308 owners like me.
I avoid gatherings and shows since that very day in the early 2000s, when a bunch of 355 and 360 owners asked me,whether this is a replica or: What ??? Carburettors ??.. How many carbs ? One or two ?
And my wife said in the evening, she had never met such a huge bunch of stupid men like today :)

    Best Regards
    Martin

Now that 308s are appreciating we get a bit more respect.
    :)

I never let fools make my decisions. Shows here are still fun. I may be the oldest car and the only one with carbs but the public likes it.

I guess they don't know any better.

Definitely. It's gratifying to have your favorite Ferrari move from the "starter" category to the "rising star" one.

With the market heating up and being red-hot for our 308s and 328s, wonder how long it will be before we find some of our photos and cars listed on ebay by a scammer?

A series of cleverly designed but secret Ferrari questions will certainly expose the fraud:

    1) Dear Seller, are the timing chains nice and shiny?
    2) Dear Seller, is this the actual 328 that was on the Magnum PI television show?
    3) Dear Seller, is this the car that was owned by Rosso Corsa?
    4) Dear Seller, .....

Okay, somebody else take over, I've got to go home...

It's funny right now, there are 11 "308s" on ebay.

    1 - wtf electric thing that's not a real 308
1 - wtf GT4 with an LSD-induced custom rear end
    1 - TVR??????
    3 - kits
    1 - 1980 painted "russo red"
    1 - 1980 in exceptonnal condition
    1 - glass asking a half-million
2 - 1979 asking in the 80s that might actually be worth looking at

    Not a bubble. Crazy.

What exactly is a bubble? I live in Ca where the ".com" and "housing" bubbles burst and burst big. Now tech sector is worth more than before the pop and house prices are almost back to the pervious peak. Are they still bubbles? Were the pops just corrections in growth and only thought to be a bubble because we didn't have the knowledge we have now?

1 of 20. Am I missing something? I thought there were 748 of these...maybe 20 in this spec and Euro. This seems to be a trend now, to derail the description to the level that there are only a few cars. I can't do that, mine is red :)

Most of the bubble-comps lately have been VR and carb cars, and maybe a couple 2vi. I haven't seen much if any QV sales to see how they compare, but apparently they are coming. This blue one, and apparently an 85 US GTB just sold for $92k. Fun to watch and a little alarming.

Alarming? Did you expect these cars to remain cheap forever? More like over due.

Not sure about which blue US QV you are referring to...The QV in the link I provided (grey QV Euro) seems to have an optimistic price tag of €120k, even compared to the latest price levels.

Oh I agree. Alarming in the sense it's so fast, it seems like I have to raise my insurance valuation every few months now, and if it continues it's going to make me a little more cautious about driving it. Definitely over due, but I have to alter my mindset a bit.

In my five years of ownership I have seen a total of four other Ferraris "in the wild" meaning not associated with a Ferrari event. A 360 spider, 2 - 430 spider (one red, one black), and a California....not a single 308 on the road in years....

I took mine to a cars n coffee event a few years ago. I was walking up to a friend of mine (Porsche salesman) who was talking with a friend of his. Before he could introduce me, the guy looks around and says "oh, no Ferraris here, just that 308." I felt like an 18 year old kid wanting to punch him out to defend my girl's honor.

I explained to him that without the success of the 308, there would be no 348/355/360/430/458. Then I asked him where his Ferrari was.

    Patrick,

308s and 328s a-plenty here. But the modern cars are the Lion's Share of sightings for sure.

My son even captured a pic of a Dino Marrone Met/Creme exactly like mine in town last year.

There are two 3x8s in my village. One in a gargage and the other was disassembled and reassembled in a family room in the basement of a house near me.

It looks like the car I checked out personally in Crotone (south of Italy) 2 years ago.
It was for sale for 40K. Needed some work (front spoiler, lower part of doors etc), but that work has been done last year.
No service history or proof of the 32K km's.
Because of the work and missing history, it was too expensive at the time.
But it was a nice car.

It was posted on autoscout for 100K recently, but now for 120K with a dealer. IF it is the same car. But colour and mileage is the same.
